As in off duty. I mean, hypothetically, your at the motel on Saturday. You don't have deliverey until Monday. Can law enforcement get you. Have you weigh your truck. Inspect it. And then let you go back? In other words. If I'm off duty under personal conveyance. Can they stop me and put me "on duty driving" status for they're own benifit?

If a class 8 truck is not for hire. Isn't doing business as a commercial vehicle. They are exempt from CMV rules. Isn't that what the fmcsa is saying when you are under "personal conveyance"?

Of course being an leo, they have the guns and tasers so they can make you do anything. Doesn't give them the "right" to do it though.
If the truck is legally parked, go tell the office to come back when your break is over (and accidentally give him a time 2 hours after you can leave, so you can be gone when he gets back)SheepDog and scottied67 Thank this. -
Which is why they need to clarify. In a nutshell though you can use the CMV for personal business, but it still is a CMV.Last edited: Sep 22, 2017

Were you driving a commercial truck over 18k lbs? The only possible answer is yes you were.
It doesn't say all commercial trucks, unless on pc. It says all commercial trucks. You are driving a commercial truck. Personal use I will grant you, but the truck is still a commercial truck.
