According to the Reddit thread, it was a construction zone and the pickup didn't realize it was two-way traffic on that section of road. Initially thought the truck was the one going the wrong way. Of course, the double yellow lines should have been a clue.

That scene isn't a "Caution: paint truck ahead", that's an obvious substantial construcion zone, wherein much signage would have already occured, including "Two-Way Traffic ".

A dude old enough to have a wife, a family of 3, a truck and camper is plenty old enough to know construction zones and signs.
