I have been to several Pilots where no showers were available . In each case I looked in the key return box . Full of keys . No showers being used , employees just to lazy to clean them .

I won't stay at a pilot unless I have no choice.

Im lucky where im home daily so I dont have to use the pilot showers...but once in a while if Im stranded in the winter due to weather, Ill use their showers. I dont mind them...however the once Ive been too are set up in a way where the water splashes off of you and onto the floor outside, getting everything wet

That got me thinking. The Pilot in Huntsville Texas has a great Tex Mex restaurant next door.

Those restaurants that we're in the old Williams, before Pilot bought them and put Arbys in, was some of the best home cooking a truck driver could easily find. Expensive on a daily basis yes, but a few nights a week was a great treat after a long day.

For many years the card readers at the Tuscaloosa Al Pilot didn't work. I gave up on them and have not been there in two years. Too much of a hassle because that caused the trucks to stack up 4 deep.

Overall I rate Pilot very poor. Nothing more than an overpriced C-store. In their favor they do have a few friendly faces behind the counters....a few.

I spend alot of time on the Penny Rile in KY and the Pilot at the 36 seams to be pretty good. It's easy to get in and out of and it never crowded. It's pretty clean. They've got the Subway which I think is problably a little more healthier than McDonalds anyways.

The Pilot on the Pennyrile is another one that used to have a good restaurant before Pilot took it over .

the only Pilot's that I like are in NE with Grandma Max chain.. they have pretty good restaurants and a good selection of food in the C-store. There used to be a good truck stop in Arizona just west of Flagstaff off I-40, think it was called Bellemont? Anyways, Pilot came in, took the restaurant out (which was nice) and put in a friggin Subway...

btw, we are at a Pilot now in CT, Milford.. with a Wendy's (almost healthy) with a Cracker Barrell across the street. We had dinner there last night and it was cheaper than eating at a Flying J or other T/S..
    ..
oh and the only, only reason I like Pilot's; they have my Diet Mtn Dew in a fountain drink.. SO I can fill my big cup up and get down the road.. lol

Next time you're in Bellmont, go across the hiway and check out the restaurant at the Harley dealer....good food, a little pricey. But they have some nice old cars and bikes there on display....worth a look next time you're there.
