Some of the APUs are just a different noise. I've had one next to me I could hear over the reefer but it really wasn't louder, it was just something I wasn't used to. Sounded like a lawnmower thumping.
Please be considerate!

If I was driving for a company with a no idle policy,I would welcome a reefer to park next to me,the louder the better. So I can get to sleep.I can't sleep if its too quiet.
mje Thanks this. -
I never heard of those no idle policies, guess that is another question I need to put on the list for recruiters, thanks.
-
Hahaha I sleep much better with the truck not running. Because sometime during the night, the idle usually smooths out for one reason or another, and that wakes me up. Makes me think that the truck stopped running and something's wrong.

LOL...This thread is still going? 205 and still rolling. Thought it would have died by 100-125.

ya almost every company has a no idle policy and will fire you if you receive too many warnings.Find a company that has APUS.
-
I dont know if its the sound or vibration. All I know is I sleep like a baby with noise.

As a former reefer driver I agree with you. If you can't handle the noise of the reefer and it's exhaust then drive another kind of rig. They could be made to run a lot quieter but like many other possible advances in the trucking industry it won't happen unless they are motivated to do so...or else.

for the guy saying its the new guys who screwed everything up no actually
its alot of the older guys who falseified there log books and wrecked there truck
its all of us for the most part there are many things that happend -
