He IS making all the calls. I am just trying to find out my own answers. We are not blind to this line of work, and knew there would be hiccups, but not to get any response is ridiculous. He just wants a definite answer...and he is not getting any answers at all.
So he tested out Friday. Today is Saturday. I don't know how long the process is at Roehl to get to this point but he's already put a good bit of time into it. So now, a day after testing out he's ready to throw all that away because why? Again, just what do you think the gain will be from that? It has to be frustrating being ready to roll and having no answers but it happens. He needs to relax and put it in perspective. Tell him to enjoy the break while he has it. Before long he'll be wishing he had a day or two to just relax.
I agree with everything you said tinytim except this: She DID say he was in Gary, IN.....there will be NO enjoyment there.
He thinks he wants to be a truck driver and is already complaining about working a 10 hour day. This whole thing is all wrong. I will be blunt and straight up with you and him. By taking in the entire context of your post, you both have some growing up to do. Not being mean - just calling it as I see it.
If you had read ALL the posts, you would have read that he enjoyed driving 10 hours...I was just pointing out that it wasn't a typical training experience...he enjoys driving period. He just wants someone, anyone, to give him some answers. They all him and haw around about when they can get him dispatched. All I am asking is if this is typical of Roehl? He doesn't mind waiting if he knew what was going on. I appreciate straight and blunt answers...but you are not seeing it correctly. If you started a new job, and then was strung out on the line with absolutely no STRAIGHT or BLUNT answers about what the next step is...YOU would be frustrated to!
While I was typing you posted a lot more info which actually made mine appear very harsh when it did come up. This situation at best does not smell right. Don't let him walk away and add insult to injure if he truly wants to drive a truck.
I don't know if it's typical of Roehl. I would hope not. Everything I've heard and read tells me they're a pretty good company to get started with. Typical or not it's what he's experiencing right now and it has to be frustrating. There's nothing to be gained by doing anything rash though.
Calling all ROEHL drivers to offer some inside help ! We in the peanut gallery are becoming unruly and moot.
