The Pete 386s are mostly retired early. There's a few left doing local runs.

Well assuming you didn't pay taxes, which is what would make it illegal then no don't put it down. If you did pay taxes and just don't have any documentation the IRS can give you a copy of that years stuff. The recruiter can't verify the under the table job and it may even make you look a little shady in their eyes.

Call her and say thanks. She did you a favor.
Get into something a little more specialized. Flatbed (not Prime) company that also does oversize stuff, tanker, and so on.
No, you can't just sit on your butt and daydream for 500 miles a day, but you get paid accordingly AND get treated well at shippers/receivers. No portable storage unit in those fields.

Yes, pay out of pocket. If you think any one of these trucking company schools is a great opportunity you'll end up paying for it dearly with indentured servitude. They'll own your (something you sit on) for a year. Try and leave early and you'll owe at least $5k.

Well worth the $1900 in student loan or credit card debt to have options other than Prime and Knight. I'd be looking at tanker companies. Call those companies that train and ask them what school they hire from. Your looking for an accredited 160 hour community college program. Should be $2k or less.

Actually Knight has a no contract loan. It is a promissory note that you sign to where you in turn pay 25/ week out of your check. If you leave, as long as you continue to make your payments they don't report it as bad on anything. They do not "own" you for any period of time. The total they charge is 3400 and its financed internally at a 0% interest rate for however long you take to pay it off (3 years if you do the bare minimum) but I plan on having it done in 6 months.

So how does Knight "own" you for a year? Because quite frankly, if they try to starve you they leave the door wide open for you to walk out and keep your payments going! Just curious, do you have to make an appointment to talk to anyone in corporate over there at Prime? Because Knight has a completely open door policy to where you can walk up a knock on anyone's door to talk with them (even Kevin Knight) and either talk or present and issue and they'll point you in the right direction.

Just curious (because I am not over there and all the Prime drivers I talked too couldn't stop cussing about their experiences) so I really have nothing to compare it to because I am here at Knight.

Seriously asking the question and putting out what I know is true of Knight (not here say), not trying to start a fight!

1900 for someone that does not have it right now, or does not have the credit to finance it, really makes a difference compared to a company that will finance 3400 at 0% interest. Especially when someone like myself that has no co-signers. I am sure if you are willing to co sign for some people they would gladly take you up on that offer. Plus any local place around here in GA wanted 4000+ for private schools and 2900 + for the tech schools.
