It's unlikely he had 14 jobs in 36 months unless he counted hitchhiking or lumping for drivers who drove for those companies as employment.

But, it is not unusual for drivers to job hop looking for the perfect job. Which is more of a myth than a reality.

There is very little difference in the job regardless who you work for.

And, it's also highly unlikely a person will be fired for refusing to run illegally. The company may make a driver's life so hard he quits, but they rarely outright fire someone for refusing to run illegally.

And, I've never known anyone who was outright fired for refusing to run illegally. They get fired for repeatedly being late or otherwise being a lousy employee.

It's best to take anything a driver says with a huge grain of salt. Much of what they say is based on what they heard someone else claim. Some of which is true, but most is an exaggeration.

Got to do something to amuse yourself and making up tall tales about experience goes with the job. . .

From what I have gathered reading this forum for a couple of months, most of the biggest companies are pretty much the same, just in different color trucks. Like any other American company in any other business, the bottom line of the company is more important than the individual worker.

It is always the lowest worker, which is the most plentiful, who gets the short end of the stick, whehter you are bean picker, a machinist, a load picker, or a truck driver. Those who work the hardest get paid the least, those who get paid the most work the least.

So here we are, drivers, or in my case getting ready to go to school to get my CDL, at the lower end of that pay scale pyramid, complaining about the many companies there are to drive for. You can pretty much gripe about any of them, for many of the same things. Or you can just show up for work, put in your time, and keep your eyes peeled for a better situation down the road.

But I certainly don't plan on having 14 different jobs in three years. . . .I would never hire anyone who moved around that much.

I'm sure there are veteran drivers and men who are more than 40 years old out there who can put what I am trying to say more clearly.
