Trust me I do not envy the office staff on this one. This was proabably sold to them as something that will make their life easier and I'm sure it has been nothing but a headache for them.
Personally I'm turning down 2-3 times as many loads as I did before, now think how much extra work that is if every driver is doing that. Sad thing is about 1/2 those loads I end up taking once they message me to just get it there by whatever time is the "real" window. On the plus side if I really don't like where a load is going now I can usually find a legit reason to decline it.
Real problem is the computer can't think about all the factors that go into a load because whoever programmed this didn't have CDL experience. A good example is the next load they just sent me. 180 miles DH all US highways and then 390 miles loaded. In theory yes I could make it to the appointment but in reality it's a live unload and since I would not have time for a 10 before getting there I would run out of hours while they are unloading me, and no truck stops within 40 miles. So yeah I can get there but then when they are done with me and kick me out I have a hos violation. Something tells me when this happens saftey will of course say well you shouldn't have taken the load you should have trip planned better. Personally I don't like showing up for a live unload unless I have at least 4 hours left on my 14 unless I know the place and can park there or there is a TA or whatever across the street. I'm sure as hell not showing up for one with only 2 hours on my clock with elogs, that is just asking for it.

There is no room for error with this new system.
Either you do it to the minute, or you can not do it at all.scottied67 Thanks this. -
It is becomming such a headache, and what is worse, not getting the correct info on pplan. Accepted mine last night, said 1000 appt this morning. No problem, and live load, no problem. Recd the dispatch, and all of a sudden, it has a pu window, 1000-1315, and show up, it is a pre-ldd trailer. The load that I refused earlier, it was because the pplan only showed a one hour windor, when it actually had a 11 hour. This is where it is going to get bad. Getting pplans and refuse because of the times on the pplan, and figure that you do not have the hours, only to learn later, there was a window that you could have made. And it could be a nice long run that you are losing out on. Right now, I see it getting worse before it gets better.

Don't fall for that msg that says "pick up and they will tell you what to do with the load" you will arrive at the final and still haven't heard what to do with the load. I am fighting with payroll right now for 8hrs of detention pay because I got a preplan then a msg say pick up as soon as possible drive towards final and we will tell you what to do with the load will I arrive and the final and nobody told me what to do with the load so I decide to deliver the load, the consignee told me it goes to the other warehouse 2 miles down the road, when I get the the warehouse the receiving office told me I don't have a delivery appointment (qualcom say my appointment is at 6a.m. I arrive here at 3 a.m.) now its 10 a.m. I sat there reply to all detention msg why I am still they, I receive 8 msg then get a msg to tcall load to terminal. Payroll telling me I can't get detention pay because I didn't send a mac 6. I am not the smartest pea in the pod but how do I send a mac 6 when the trl is still loaded. (1.Whose name do I put in mac that sign for the load? 2.Should I put it as a live unload or a drop and hook?) Remember the trl is still loaded. Those people in payroll be trying to say swift money like it their money, give the drivers they money it not urs...inkeper Thanks this.

You pretty much won't see more than a one hour window with plus one any more with a couple exceptions that I have noticed. One is if it is if the window starts as soon as you pick up, then it will show from a minute after pu until whenever the computer thinks you should be there. The other is if you are lowish on hours for the day, it will show from when it thinks you can get there if you left now until 10 hours later so you can take a 10 if you want.
I actually have gotten pretty good at telling if its a "plus one window" or a customer window. If its kinda weird like from 1315 to 1345, thats plus one, you probably have all day but send a mac 22 if going to be later than 1345. I have gotten used to the system of, take the tight run, when it doesn't work out send mac 22 with some generic reason for being late, get msg from planner/dm, "what do you mean your not late you have until 2359", reply back "yeah I kinda figured but thats not what the computer told me" .
Had a real retarded Costco one the other day. Sitting at Morris TA, full clock not started yet. Get a Costco reefer load, pu 1500-1545, two stops, 0500 and 0700 about 200 miles away (loosing an hour from cst to est). I just took it because I know Costco usually has an 8 hour pu window or so and message ECT asking when the end of the real window is since I don't want to start my clock now its better to just pick it up when its time to actually leave. They tell me to get it by 2300 so thats what I do, scaled and rolling by 0000 and then precede to have a nice 420 mile day at the under 250 mile rate with extra stop pay too since the reefer return is dispatched as a new trip I'm "loaded" for the DH back

I'm trying to get some detention pay from a load a while back where I actually did an 8 hour sleeper break waiting for the load to be finished. Another one was where I showed up on time they said it would not be ready for a few hours. Long about sunrise I got a beep, 'load cancelled' on that second one.
Both these cases show "Denied" on my DM's screen. They denied it because I was in the sleeper, logs show split sleeper berth provision for that day-- the rationale being they're not gonna pay a driver to sleep.
The second one was denied because the load was cancelled-- sorry charlie. -
Agree, the one still big problem, is that we are not getting the correct information that we need in a pplan. No correct info, then how r we expected to actually plan on whether we can or can not do it. If I get that msg to pu and head that way and we will tell you what do to, then I do not accept. Once accept, I am responsible. Like the one today, pplan said 1000-1000. It was not until I received the dispatch that there was a window. Also my one problem, I do not like a computer telling me how it thinks that I should run. I have always mostly tried to plan my days to run only 8 hours and then shut it down. I do not want it telling me that I need to run every day 10 hours. I am starting to feel like I need a babysitter now. Even now just received a pplan, JIT load. Now figure this. I deliver at 8 in morning, live unload, so figure finish at 10, then pu at 1700. My clock is starting at 6. They want it in MD no later than 1400 Thursday, 500 miles. Doable, yes, but after sitting 3 days on the east coast because no freight, nah, not heading that way in the near future. Oh, it did say preldd, but not when it would be preldd.

Sadly, as I understand this is the POINT of plus one. According to my DM too many drivers get a load with a big window and then take forever getting there and wait until the last minute to show up. The idea is to not give the driver all the info, just tell him when Swift thinks he should get it there. These same drivers that take an extra day on a run also can't seem to get more than 7000 miles a month so this is designed to get them to hurry up.
Personally I think it sucks because now I have to have a computer tell me when it thinks I should run all because some less than average employees can't figure out the sooner you get there the sooner you get your next load, the more miles you get for the week. I mean its not rocket science, if you can't figure that one out, you shouldn't be in a truck.capthook, Rattlebunny, DragonTamerBrat and 1 other person Thank this. -
The more I read, the happier I am with my choice to leave. Seems like they would have worked out some of the "bugs" by now.
Regardless, I hate the very idea of a computer telling me how and when to drive.

That is the problem. This morning received a pplan that had a window, latest to load, 0915, 15 miles from me. I had a live unld at 0800. Now this 15 miles, Cinci rush hour, and it was UPS, 475 miles that delivered tomorrow at 10. I had to decline saying that I could not pu until 0930, to be safe, and not sure how long unld would take. Next thing I know, taken off me. Then a pplan that live loads at 1900,, JIT, 450 miles by 0800. They think that I can just shut down my body and sleep again after just waking up. I am not sure if the planners are even looking at the load that they are sending before then actually send it. Finally just to get rolling, at 420 mile 2 day run that is a live unld at 2300 tomorrow night. Then theyn stack me, pu on the 18th at 0500 on the 17th and del 0001 on the 18th. Try and figure that one out, pu b4 even del. Was then told, it is drop and hook on both ends. I this talk to my DM, and I explained that I do not want to accept pplans that have times in them that I can not make. Not seeing the window hurts because CSR is so quick to want to throw svc fail. I can understand what you are saying Neal, but they r punishing the ones that also want to run. As an O/O, I am actually seeing my miles go way down.
