If you guys are running Long Haul OTR, is there a reason you are doing your oil changes that often? What kind of oil are you using? the standard 10/30?
Im using Mobile Delvac synthetic blend and im thinking of going every 25k miles. The DD13 manual recommends 50k miles when running long haul. I dont idle the truck much, use the APU most of the time when needed.

I idle at night during the summer. It gets black. I need to get a bypass filter system.

I oil change every 14k miles and I’ve had one truck hit 1.4m miles before rebuild. Two other trucks rebuilt and sit at 1.7m and 1.9m miles. As well as a newer truck at 800k and even my 400k mike truck I still do every 14k mike service. It’s important to grease a truck so those doing massive interval services, I hope you grease in between.
I use Mystiq oil and replace all filters except air filter and it runs $260-280 on the older trucks, and like $330-$350 on newer trucks with the Cummins.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
I've always changed all filters (minus air filters) every service. I don't do that guessing game crap as to how long a fuel filter will last before its restricted.
sealevel Thanks this. -
I do 12k to 15k on mine regardless of engine, Add 1 gallon of Lucas, the cost is between $400-$450 depending on location.
Oil, fuel filters, grease.
Change rear end and transmission oil every Sept.
I change my air filters every Jan. And July.
If I buy a truck, first thing is oil change, rear end oil change, transmission, and air filters.
Then they go to my set schedule. -
If you run in salt country maybe the air filter should be around March when the snow is gone? Just a thought not saying it's right.

She’ll rotella every ~15ishk, sometimes it’s 14 if I have a chance to change it, sometimes it’s closer to 20 if I’m busy, all filters except for air, truck gets greased about every 3 weeks. Pull reefer regional
oil is cheap, engines are notOrange713 Thanks this. -
I am curious, you mentioned that you do service at 45k. Do you change filters in between services? Reason that I ask is I have never seen a filter designed to past 15k. But I am old school, I use conventional Rotella 15 40 I do a PM every 12k and use Cat filters on my 3406EOrange713 Thanks this.

whwn I bought my DD13 I read the intervals on the Detroit recommended oil change. If you are doing a lot of highway running it is 50k miles. That is a long time, so I settled in the 20k-25k. Therefore I agree with him in that regard. We use APU’s therefore no idling of the truck. I’m baffled by the 14k-20k oil change interval. But like I said, if it works for you and the truck is getting new oil, and it runs great, no reason to change what works for the individual.

I understand, and I agree. I was just surprised at service interval
