Years ago, I knew a guy whose cb handle was poet, he was not a trucker, but drove a motor home and a 240Z datsun, and poet stood for pick on every trucker. lol

    Cowboys of The Highway
Thoughts of a Trucker during the
    COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020

    By: Cattleman84

Us Cowboys of the Highway, for decades have kept this country in functioning order.
From Sea to Shining Sea, and Border to Border.

All the while, we have been hated and despised.
Merely for doing our jobs, bringing food, medicine, and other supplies.

Now Fear and Disease have got this country hiding.
But Cowboys of the Highway, we just keep on riding.

Thriving metropolises, once teaming with people and life...
Now contain only dark shadows and strife.

Now us Cowboys of the Highway are called heros, in all this pandemic hype...
For simply doing our jobs, bringing supplies like water and ### wipe.

Soon this country will cease to ebb, once again beginning flow.
And we will then be forgotten, day after tomorrow.

Still Cowboys of the Highway, we will keep on riding.
Remembering how Fear and Disease once had this country hiding.

Yet we will take pride for continuing to keep this country in functioning order.
From Sea to Shining Sea, and Border to Border.

Thanks, I have written poetry for many years. But they are few and far between. Most always they come to me very late at night while I'm driving... And they never end up even close to what they begin as. The more I continue to spin phrases, they more the poem changes. Kinda weird I suppose.

    Don't over think it.

If I had enough time to think on something as might be provided by a all night 1000 mile run then sure. If time is short then I forget many details and make a hash of it.
