Ha ha. Gotta watch out for Wayne. At the receiver the other day, the receiver says, "Oh, oh. You're gonna be mad about that, aren't you... " Wayne says, "No, I'm not. Want to know how to tell when I'm mad at you?" The receiver just looks at him, waiting for the punch line.
"Your nose is bleeding," Wayne says. "That's how you can tell I'm mad at you."
Slightly uncomfortable laughs followed. All in good fun, of course.
Wayne didn't sound at all upset. Punch line, get it?
Meanwhile we're all sorta mentally checking our noses for nosebleed...
Just in case.

The Weigh-In
All right, I paid my $50 for the Spencer Y 'Get Fit Challenge' and attended the first meeting tonight. I'm a team of one. Spoke to Laura yesterday to find out what we get for $50. Well, for one thing, if you're a non-member it's $100. Okay, okay, but what do I get? To start off, about $100 off various classes.
That's a start. Okay, fine. Did an hour's worth of 10 minutes around the indoor track alternating 5 minutes of rest. First time back since I started the new job, I think. Got weighed and measured. Wow! I'm back up 5 pounds from where I thought I was?? Back to where I was BEFORE took Trip West??
Ugh!!
Well, I did run over to McCormick's Creek (State Park) this afternoon, bought my yearly pass (only $20 since over 65) and had the soup and salad bar at Canyon Inn. Hey!! I figured it'd give me a little edge, weigh more now, easier to reach a better result later, right??
Outdid myself. I've got girth, what can I say! True girth...
Like True Grit, but not. True GIRTH!!
And I'm scheduled to meet with a nutritionist on the 21st. My nutrition's pretty good. I'm what medical offices euphemistically refer to as 'well-nourished'. (Really!) Yesterday Laura was telling me about a guy last year who lost 55 pounds, then continued after the Challenge to lose another 105 and got down to his ideal weight. All I wanted was 10 pounds to go bye-bye.
Now, after the weigh-in, I need 15 pounds gone just for game.

25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
I am off today.
I am off tomorrow. I worked the last two weekends. I was told today our freight had slowed down. We had been very busy since Thanksgiving.
I have been running around 3000 miles a week. Most drivers where Vic and I work average 2200-2500 miles per week.
I am glad I am not working tomorrow. The temp. for tomorrow is going to be well below 0 degrees F.
I plan on working Friday and Saturday. Sunday is my normal day off. Hopefully, things are back to normal and I will be off on Sundays and Vic will only be asked to work 2 days a week.double yellow and Victor_V Thank this. -
Roosters in the Shower...
Since I didn't get the shelter built for the 3 roosters, just finished bringing the 3rd one in, not as trivial as bringing hens inside. These boys have some size and heft to them and until just now had never been handled. They probably would make it through the night okay on the porch; wild birds survive in a lot worse, of course and these guys didn't really look like they were stressing.
But I'll feel better knowing they are warm tonight...
Before I left for my hour walk at the Spencer Y indoor track, the Buckeye hen got herself out of the coop. Decided not to try get her back in while day time and she's full of energy. Worked out, too. When I got back sometime after 5 pm and the day's light started to go bye-bye, she was looking for a way back into the coop to roost with the other girls.
So that was simple.
Apparently the day with 3 horny boys convinced her life's better for her in the convent. Tomorrow morning could be interesting... roosters'll start rhoo-ing around 4 am. Full of ####le-doodle-doo. In my shower.
Well, at least the curtain's drawn... -

Louisville... Oh, Louisville!
Would I like to take a run to Louisville this afternoon? It's a request, 'be awesome' if I could... otherwise Indy'll take care of it, he said.
Dunno. Maybe. Didn't know yet that either my water pipes froze in the sub-zero cold or that panel below the shower has popped open again. Hafta get into the crawl space either way. Need water for dogs and chickens in the meantime. Car starts; that's good. Need air in that back left tire, though. Not a problem, just hafta do it. Front left needed air, too.
Roosters are on pretty good behavior in the shower so far. Did start up around 4 am as expected. Figured to wait until 10 am or so when it warms up some to try put them out. Try...
But Louisville is tempting. Short run. New destination. Plenty of time to get my hour in at the Spencer Y and sort things out here. Looked at it on Google Maps and probably could find way in without much in the way of directions, too. Probably need to decide soon!
Maybe, just maybe...Last edited: Jan 8, 2015

Roosters! Oh, Roosters!!
Here's the email I got back after I emailed that I thought I could do the Louisville:
Decide I'll do Louisville anyway.
Then a long conversation with Wayne about what loads he does NOT take and why. Good info. First rooster almost flew up over the shower curtain but caught him, screaming and fussing. Same with rooster #2. #3, however, did fly over the shower curtain and got in my back room there.
Oh, we had quite a chase.
After running him to the kitchen and back, got a stick to herd him; finally caught him by a leg and carried him upside down to the waiting water and goodies (chicken pellets, black oil sunflower seeds) on the porch.
Haven't ventured into my crawlspace... yet!!Last edited: Jan 8, 2015

I am going to St.Louis in the morning. I went by the yard to check on my load. It is one stop 17,000 lbs.
I was glad to be off today. Sub zero temps are hard on equipment and people. ( and roosters, and all other living things.)
