    Response to Desert_Skies:

I read all of your 14 threads and you're no dummy, but jumping in here and calling me names if you've read only page 1 and page 18 is simply dumb. Sorry.

    You're better than that.

And if you and tow614 want to ####-chat, start a thread. Not here. This thread has over 9,000 views in two months. I don't mind if you're not interested. Apparently others are.

I have already given much consideration for landstar. I was in business management and marketing for the automotive industry before china took it over so I have no problem handling the responsibility. The only problem is that I would like to retire from trucking in 3 years and don't want to go into debt for a truck and not be able to get rid of it when I am ready to. Thanks for the info.

You would be suprised how many LS guys are "retired". You would also be suprised how many retired Teamsters are driving for Walmart. You buy a gently used truck that you pay off before you "retire" and then you pull a load here and there to help supplement your income.

As a 'retired' Teamster, Teamster Local 208, 1974-1979, I'm requesting my fellow former Teamster (Desert_Skies) take the ####-chat to a new thread. Not here.

Actually, you do have something to add here as a 'graduate' from Gordon and now pulling for Landstar. No CPR needed, thank you. But your Landstar life after Gordon is welcome here.

Calling me names and disparaging me personally is not.

tow614, you've been a troll from the start. If you don't like the thread, why such an avid fan? You're here more than I am and I'm writing the thread.

tow614, 'legend in my own mind' and 'lmao'--if you're going to start a thread on success at Gordon, you'll have to lift it up some. Mere troll-ism.

Desert_Skies, you think back on one of your threads when a 'wannabe' popped off. You came in here saying you haven't read the thread and popped off. The thread isn't targeted to you, you're right. You're far beyond needing any assist from me and this narrative; some of your comments on other threads and the 14 you started are really, really cogent. Don't go away mad...

How do we know that the 9k or so views are not you bumping your own count? Good god for anyone with a little time in its really just watching a train wreck in progress. But you seem like a well meaning guy so I promise not to post anymore on your thread, there is fresh Gordon meat hanging on our every word and far be it or me to get in between you and your 9k followers. If anyone wants to catch me I will be back over at the LS forum. Really dude you need a hobby or maybe a signifigant other, just saying.

Drama Queen is a title I have bestowed upon you,Im hurt that you think Im just calling you names. Like the others that have been given the title its an honor earned and well deserved. From here on in you need to be very careful because the mods might be watching and without notice they just might lock your thread. Calling tow614 a troll might just speed up the process.

    truckinmike1984, joseph1135 and tow614 Thank this.

Ok victor.. I know when I am not welcome. I am unsubscribing to your thread so I will no longer get email notifications when you post here. So I guess there goes half of your viewership.

    Desert_Skies and truckinmike1984 Thank this.

Response to GreyHound and about this Skirmish

At page 12, message #119, second to last paragraph, sc00ter advised finding a mentor:

Despite this skirmish with Desert_Skies and tow614, you couldn't find a better mentor here than Desert_Skies. His posts are consistently thoughtful, knowledgeable and well-written. (Almost all... ) He posted threads on Gordon while he worked for Gordon at about the same time as I'm writing about. I started with Gordon October 15, 2012.

Read 'New guy checking in', 'One month update', for example. Easiest way I know is just click (PC) or tap (iOS) on his handle 'Desert_Skies' on his post, go to his profile and take the option to view his posts or threads. He graduated Gordon and moved on to Landstar, has his own truck and makes cogent posts in that forum. Good reading. A role model. A good role model.

    GreyHound:

Right toe. I'd be tickled all colors of the rainbow if Indy and Pacific took that to heart. If not, my hope is that this thread takes the lid off the Gordon experience so rookies have a heads up going in and not caught unaware. I would still not hesitate to recommend Gordon because despite the lousy rookie pay, you've got great driver support, tons of freight, excellent equipment and will never be asked or required to run illegally. Maybe plan now to move on later like Desert_Skies.

On the other hand a seasoned OTR driver may do just fine out the gate. Or not. We haven't heard from chowick1966 ('Pastures new @ Gordon') for the longest time and I don't think that's good.

Actually, it is their responsibility to provide a non-hostile work environment--100%. To me that means a smoke-free truck. Anything less is unacceptable and later on Gordon offers to detail one truck and claims, incorrectly, that another had been detailed. More later. Most of us don't know what we don't know and a lot of what we do know is wrong, or so the saying goes. You may not know as much as you think you do.

This thread narrates my learning curve, loads and pay at Gordon.
