General tow, your soapbox riseth. Blu, somehow I missed your msg. So you're not a youngster? I think tow is 57, not a youngster either. BTW, CougFan PMd me that he's enjoying the longest time he's had with his family in two years.

    Where are you folks tonight?

I think General tow told me off-line what his career after Gordon might look like. I'm half thinking to buy a used water tanker for next summer, after some experience with a gal not too far from here. Has seven trucks. Fills pools. The three 5000-gal trucks get $250 per delivery (5 cents/gallon). Costs about $23 to fill the truck. All local. Summer season lasts May-September or so. She's pulling down real money. I wouldn't be so aggressive.

Like to pay off truck the first summer if I do go that route.

Tonight I rest at the walmart in bluffton, in..

Getting ready to go in and get a few supplies to last me until hometime Thursday. .

Yep.. my desire is to leave trucking and play poker for awhile. Like many who think they can make a living at it.. I am confident I am able. Trick is not to be greedy and think you are going to get rich.

Too many people are swayed by results like the young 23 year old who just won the wsop main event for 8.5 million..

Just remember for every one that does that there are 8.5 thousand who didn't. ..

I know a few guys who are grinding out 50 to 60k a year playing 3 to 4 days a week. Not bad for sitting at a comfortable table with room service at night..

But a man must have fantasies to keep from going insane...lol. :biggrin_2554:

I couldn't do it. Them's all smokin' rooms.

Had a guy rent a room from me in Huntington Beach, CA. He had won $15K one night at the Bicycle Club Casino in Bell Gardens where I had been active as a community activist (didn't know him then). He kept chasing that next $15K so gave it all back.

Up in Reno years and years ago I did my usual. Waited for a fat lady to give up on a dollar slot after there a long time. Hit for $750, paid $250 in the jingle box and the rest by check. Gal says, "You're not even excited." I said, "No, and I'm leaving right now."

Which I did. Budgeted $120 to win or lose. Fat lady came over and said I had her jackpot. I did not share. Just left. Time to leave.

/I already am the weird ol' man on top of the hill. Not intending it as my pinnacle. Just happen to live on a big hill. Price was right. My mechanic in town calls it 'Victor's Hill'. Other mechanic up here (about a mile away) has 32 acres behind me. Most of my vehicles are broken right now. Ugh! Not typical.

/My downfall would be the buffet, tow. Didn't know about non-smoking.

Not everywhere. Seen a few casinos advertizing "non-smoking poker rooms"

All poker rooms are non smoking now and many casinos are going completely non smoking..

One must approach it like a business.. manage your time as well as money..

Most get into trouble when they are chasing the thrill... it does become work not entertainment.

If you want entertainment then go watch a movie...

I used to love Bellagio. Arrive when still lunch price, stay as long as I could. Foods from all over the world. That's the ticket.

That $48 nonstop special might be fun ONCE. Maybe try walk off some calories between venues.

    Read it...
I drove for a company for a couple of years that paid us by the mile off the hub and paid an hourly rate for everything else we did.. paid 10 bucks everytime we bumped a dock..every dock... $7.50 everytime we got fuel... $10 HR on all live loads and unloads beginning as soon as we bumped the dock.

Everything had to be shown on log book as on duty time though.

Unfortunately they hired the moron that drove Jevic into the ground and he did the same to us.. no longer in business
