    Is it true that Gordon has a strict 65mph policy and that you have to hit your brakes going downhill to comply?

    Short Answer: YES!

    And if you Violate the policy you are subject to potential reprimand/Termination. At least when I drove for them in 2012.

    I do think its 67 now. I have gone over that and have not heard anything about it. Time will tell....

    It might not mean anything now that heartland has bought Gordon.

    Thanks for the nfo fellers. I'm scheduled for orientation soon, are there any other oddities about this company that you feel are worth mentioning? Like chaining up, is time at home really 2 days or is it 34 restart etc.

    If you are on one of the "five and two" fleets, then what it has traditionally been is really "five-and-a-half and a 34-hour reset."

    So, technically, if you clocked out at a terminal to go home at 8 pm Friday, you would need to log back in at 6 am Sunday morning. That's not two days off like the recruiter told you ... but, oh well.

    Now, with the new HOS, and the back to back 1 am to 5am requirements, you could benefit by getting more time home depending on what time you log out.

    Also, if you have a pre-plan on the QC before you go home, or you get one while you are at home, that doesn't need to be picked up until later after you would normally have to get back to the truck, you can do your "wait" time at home. There have been many instances of clocking out on Friday evening and not having to get back to the terminal until Monday morning.

    I'm gonna be one of the new drivers out of the Dallas area, 10 to 14 days on, 2 off. Does the OTR fleet let you bank days off?

    Kinda, They have a warped outlook:

    For every week (7 days) out you earn 1 day off.... Or something along that line

    And they have something about no more than 4 (perhaps 5) days off.

    <RANT ON>

    First off: I am not a slave and do not earn unpaid time off. I will take my personal time when and how much I need when I need it. I will let you know when I will be back.

    <RANT OFF>

    My basic plan was: I will take 1 day at home for every 6 on the road. Non compliance on GTI's part was not an option.

    So for 18 day out I would take 3 @ home (give or take a day).

    Ok its 1 day off for ever 7 days out and the day you get home and the day you leave out do not count towards home time. Your out for 2 weeks and get 2 days off. You might get home at 7 am and the day does not count or out get home at 2359 and the day does not count. My last home time was 34 days out and 5 days off. You can not take any more than 5 days off at a time.

    Being you out of TX. You got to be a heart land thing.

    Thanks for the nfo. It's exactly like Conway Truckload as far as getting in after 7am, not charged for that day as one of your days off and you can bank days with them also. Gordon has been advertising in Dallas area for drivers lately. Going with GT but will be using Heartland terminal in Seagoville, suburb of Dallas to leave truck for home time. Do you "have to" chain up to get a load there or can you wait til it's better on the roads.
