The best Detroit rebuilder in the country puts a one piece on all their rebuilds,

    American Fleet, Springfield,Missouri

I know people that have spent 15k on their emissions system and still have check engine lights.

Harmonic balancers that are bad can cause bolts and brackets to break or crack..

Those aftermarket manifolds from Bullydog and PDI look pretty nice. Looks like most of their products are designed for pre-emission CAT, Detroit, Cummins engines. Any benefit to putting one of these aftermarket manifolds on a newer, modern engine, or are the manufacturers making better stock manifolds these days?

In my early days of petrol engines, the trick was always a ported and polished intake and ‘extractors’ or headers. More efficient gas transfer.

The inside of the full tilt manifold is shiny smooth.

Not sure if they have them for newer engines.

Do the newer manifolds on modern trucks still use 3 piece slip join units and experience the same issues with leaking at the joints?

The best feeling is when you are paying for fuel and you press "No" when the prompt ask you if you would like to purchase DEF Fluid.

The pre-emissions engine are relatively simple and just about any competent mechanic can work on them. Yes that means you can go to a mom and pop diesel service shop and not the dealership. If you like the Detroit i believe there are 4 or 5 revisions of the 60 series each with their pros and cons. Look into replacing the the bull gear which I think is more of a problem they have than the manifolds which is common to all engines.

Another great feeling is not having that stupid california sticker on the driver door ruining a beautiful paint job. Specially when you live 1500 miles away and are never going there.
