Two of last three times I reserved a parking spot all spots were already taken. All but one spot had a receipt in window. When I went in to get my receipt there was another driver complaining no spots left. Driver parked in space without receipt refused to move. So we stood there with employee and there were 6 receipts printed for 5 spots. Employee apologized and we got refund. Is this overbooking happening all over? The other driver that got a refund said it was the first time it happened to them.

If he's in a reserved spot without paying for it, he's trespassing and should be towed. I use paid parking from time to time and will run into a full lot occasionally but I am usually there earlier then the 'check out' time. Most times, I wait for the manager who gets security to knock on doors or goes out and does it himself to evict those who should be leaving...99.9% of the time, people move.

I could imagine if there was one reserved spot left and two people registered for it through the app at close to the same time it might not update fast enough and allow both transactions to go through.

I have had multiple times at the flying j in denver where I come in to grab a reserved spot (that I already booked) and all the spots are stolen. Have to get an employee to run down who's parked there without paying and make them move. The two times it's happened to me, both of them moved without too much fuss.

To be honest with you though, there needs to be a better system. I mean for $15 per spot per night they could invest in a better system to keep unpaid trucks from jacking the spots. Because if someone really did refuse to move there isn't much flying j could do besides call a tow. And the second the wrecker pulls into the lot that driver is gonna race out of there leaving pilot with the tow bill for coming out. On the other hand, I really enjoy jacking thos reserved spots during my lunch break.

I was talking to the Dallas J manager a few months ago about this problem. He says they’ve started booting trucks who aren’t registered and payed and won’t answer repeated knocks. He also has the cops knock on their sleeper every time he passes through to make them as miserable as possible if they’re not going to man up.

I've had it happen a couple of times. The TA in Columbia, NJ lied to me one night, saying there was a computer error. The truth is, in certain areas, girls don't like to go out to the parking lot knocking on doors late at night. I spent the night in a handicapped spot. I had the same thing happen in Gary once. I blame TA/Petro when this happens. They should always have a male on duty at such places. You would think they could get someone from the shop at least.

I had what I believe was an actual oversell at the Petro in Laramie once. They stuck me in the triangular space between two real parking spots. There was just enough room to squeeze in.

I also had a situation at the Fly/J in Jerome, ID one night when it was snowing so hard you couldn't see ten feet in front of you. I thought I'd never get to the truck stop and when I did my reserved spot was not available. The manager punted and said I should park in one of the fuel islands. Really!!! He was wanting to go home and didn't want to deal with the problem. An hour later I got a knock on my door. The night manager had just come on duty and said she would move the trespasser. So these four women bundled up in those parkas that zip up into a face tube came out, waddled across the deep snow to a particular truck, then just started pounding on all four sides of it. The driver came to the window, sat there and argued with them for over ten minutes, then finally moved. I don't know where that guy ended up that night but I really have no sympathy. I was bushed and it took me over two hours to get into a spot I had paid to reserve.

On the North East coast they over book all the time. It is standard, because guys book then don't show up.
Having never booked I'm not sure but I Guess you reserve but don't actually get charged till you arrive.
I have heard some petro are putting boots on truck if your in spot.

I used reserved parking about 4 times last year. Once when it was snowing bad enough to get off the road. I backed into the LAST parking spot in the whole lot. Guys we're already "making" spots. Went inside to pay they told me spot was already taken. But they would sell to me since if driver wasn't there yet. He most likely would not make it.

I’m gonna take some heat for this, but I LOVE paid reserve parking.. It’s one less thing to have to worry about since the dumb eld mess..some weeks I don’t need it and some weeks I’ll use it 2-3 times.. $12-15 is worth the no hassle, points pay for it most of the time anyway.. it’s easy through the app in advance

I’ve never had to get anyone moved yet but I’m sure it’s comin.
