I have a direct shipper looking for quotes for Reefer loads from Los Angeles to Columbia SC 1 pick 1 drop ...we have been running this lane for a year now and we usually get between 5000.and 6800. All under 5 stops
We currently only have 1 truck and they are aware of this and said it was not a problem
I was thinking of asking 7500. Should I go higher ? The consensus on FB seems to be about 8000.
They also have LA to ATL and several locations around Plant City FL that I'm interested in
So I'm thinking 3.07 per mile to SC and ATL and maybe 3.25 per mile going into FL we are based in Columbia SC
What do u guys think
Thanks

What is the weight for the load? Time allotted to do load, ?
-
Haven't found out about times allowed but the weight is 43,500 and temp is 34 degrees

Go with your gut on this, make sure you cover your rear for the things that might be thrown in as extras, price out what it will cost to do the load while providing a good salary to drivers, include all cost of running truck and trailer including regular maintenance. Being to cheap will only hurt you and the same with being to expensive, so know your costs and list them when you make your bid so both side know what they are getting, and with only 1 truck, what happens if a break down happens. And since new food safety guidelines and health insurance hoops are coming into play make sure you cover all those costs.
KB3MMX and Bass Man 69 Thank this. -
What kind of money you getting going back west?is the work consistant year round?how much dead head you doing between loads?
U have to look at the whole picture -
The California market is a real crap shoot. It swings so much day to day week to week. If you tell them 7500 this week and some time goes by and the market slows and the brokers are giving him 5500 quotes is he still going to pay you 7500 year round no questions? Same goes for if you agree to 7500 and market gets real hot maybe 9000 will you still pull for him for 7500? Have to judge the customer and this is one of those things that takes time to build trust and in a single moment it can all go to crap. Will he lock you in at 7500 ahead of time or wait til last minute and expect you to be ready after he has shopped all his brokers and expects you to be good for 7500 at a moment's notice? Food for thought.

Some things I had not thought about, Thanks all

Get familiar with USDA truck rate reports and capacity.
Your numbers are close for the market if you're going into ga which is saturated with trucks right now.... SC is a bit different.Bass Man 69 Thanks this. -
