Read recently about how Prime Trucking has improved, thinking about becoming an O/O through their Standard Lease program, anybody have experience or have some good quality advice?

    Thank you,

DFW is a GREAT place to look for a trucking job.

With only 7 months or so of driving experience under your belt--it's much too soon to be looking at...or thinking about....a fleece-purchase program.

Go instead with one of the job suggestions offered to you, in your earlier DFW thread.

Get some more experience--& wait until the market improves--before looking hard at fleecing.

o/o and lease purchase drivers are not the same(o/o own their trucks and usually have their own authority) lease purchase is pretty much a company driver that pays for everything and usually treated like a company driver (you'll figure that out once you start refusing loads.

But owner operators still have to pay for everything so if you refuse loads you'll end up in debt

I’ll never understand why you new drivers are hell bent on incurring a truck load of debt before you have so much as a thimble full of experience. SMH

Here’s the simple answer. They’re unaffectionately called “Fleece Purchases” for a reason.

If came up to you and said “Hey man, got a business proposition for you. You pay for everything & assume all the risk, and I’ll cut you in for 20% of the profit!”.

How fast would you jump on that deal? That’s a fleece purchase!

Those programs are designed to turn you into an indentured servant.

Me neither. But a lot of people really push it. They make it sound like it's such a wonderful thing to be an owner operator.
