I used to run, (still have it) a Samsung laser that got the job done really well. Especially useful if you had to print lots of pages. In the beginning I used to print broker packets and fill out. Usually somewhere around a 1000 page yield.
Now I use a portable Epson that travels in it's own case and runs off battery power and charges through USB. Has Wifi but I don't use it. Easier to just plug in the USB to print quickly. Same goes for the scanner. Epson. Travel pouch. Battery Operated. Both easy to store in either overhead bin or closet. Usually I just leave them both on the passenger seat next to the Dometic

I have a cheap canon all in one inkjet printer/scanner. Power usage is low so I can use a 12v inverter.
Pair that with a laptop + wifi and you have a very useful tool. I also know of a few free websites for sending and receiving faxes.
