Not quite, I was becomming more and more angry (at myself) that I was unable to help my wife. But my sense of obligation to the company was making me more conflicted and angry. I had a few drinks one night and immediately realized I was making a bad situation worse.

You wanna get mad at someone? Get mad at the people who don't realize (or care) what they are doing and get INTO a truck sauced.

never asked for any. but thanks for chiming in with your distain.

I've heard this too many times in my cab driving days.

    YOU sir have MY sympathy.

Divorce/family courts have ripped many a father to shreds, while getting custody you have to practcally prove the ex-wife is a murdering junky. I've seen a lot of guys destroyed by the women who they believed loved them, only to have that woman take their children and turn them against them.

Well, we are all prone to moments of weakness. We are flawed mortals.
Yes I did get home. Yes I am dealing with it. My wife and I will probably look into some counselling next week. And yes I am taking a leave of absence from working for a while.

It's better than having someone with emotional issues behind the wheel.

I guess like all psychological issues, it goes back to my relationship with MY father.

My father divorced my mother shortly after I was born. He spent a good few years womanizing after that. When I was a young boy, he was trying to launch a business, so he never had time for me. It was always business trips and meetings before family. Then he got re-married and basicly turned into Ward Cleaver for wife #2 & her kids. (in an ironic twist, she cleaned him out.)

Basicly I vowed that if *I* ever became a father I would do everything my father didn't. I wanted to be a "hands on" dad that would do stupid things like playing catch, going fishing and flying kites. Not being a "father by proxy & checkbook" like my dad was to me.

The only odd thing was, my passion for driving must have come from all those custody visits when I was young. Whenever my dad DID spend time with me it involved a 3 hour ride down the NJ turnpike. And every Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Birthday, involved being passed off from one parrent to the other at the Vince Lombardi Service Plaza in East Rutheford NJ. (north of the tolls after Giant's Stadium)

Putting in parenthesis where the Vince Lombardi is located on a trucking forum is like putting North Pole in parenthesis when talking about Santa Claus. LOL, it just struck me as funny.

Sorry to the OP for his situation and hope everything works out. Trucking is a lifestyle all it's own and you have to sacrifice a lot to be a trucker.

    L.B. Thanks this.

I'm hoping to get regional work. I mean, *EVERYBODY* hates NYC right? There's got to be demand for drivers in this neighborhood.

And if not, I'll just go back to limo work. Home every night, no logbooks, and occasionally you get tips! :D
(like, don't buy Enron stock. hahaha)
