We don't drop and hook often, pulling these tanks locally, it doesn't make sense. We stay under the same trailer for weeks or even months at a time.

Anyways, on the occasion that I do drop a loaded trailer, I crank the legs down until they hit ground, switch to low gear and go two or three more turns. Drop the air and slowly pull out. Easy peasy. If it's a little high for the next guy, it's much easier to lower than raise.

If I was mean and onery over a junk load as I was once with a reciever filled with no spots yelling at me to get rid of that box and be gone load be ######.

I backed the end of the tandems of the container over a 40 foot berm above a bayou below and she got light on the 5th wheel. By the time I considered to drop her there she left the plate and detached airlines and fell into the bayou.

All the way down above it's own container floor. Hopefully they got to it in time with it being nice and water tight for a while anyway. With the treatment I recieved there I made sure never ever to be associated with that facility ever again. They can fire me. But on the other hand that was the easiest drop I made in my lifetime when that trailer just left the plate and tractor by it's own will.

The bills was turned into the poor office drone. She saw the scrawls that passed for a angry signature by someone long since exploded with the entire job that day torwards all truckers present I told her that the load is delivered as billed. Its their problem now, just have the company get their money from this haul It's signed and delivered.

You will learn to crave drop and hook. Bills, Trailer, hooked and GO already. Make money. that will come in time.

I was happy to get away from drop and hook. Tired of picking up trailers that had issues cause drivers are lazy and/or don't do inspections. Lot of drop and hook loads take as long or longer than some of my live loads.

I hear you. If you are with a company that is crappy and has no pride or taking time to shop bad trailers and dump it onto you and others then it's time to get the eff out of it. And join a class outfit that has no time for that.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I did pay attention to this thread. All the info indeed did help.I've done a crazy amount of bobtailing this week.
But leaving the landing gear up. The thickness of my indext finger. Really makes the rehook a whole lot easier.
    Thanks again

    PE_T Thanks this.

They are now recommending dumping air bags before you crank down the landing gear to the ground, then pull out. This will set the trailer at the proper height for the next driver.
