I used to drive a tanker all over the Midwest. It was cool at first then I hated it. Sitting all day in s truck isn’t for me I felt like death after running 800 miles some days and being home every night still. I quit that, now I drive a mixer so I guess I’ll list some of my pros vs running hard in a tanker.

    Pros:
Opportunity to piss every half hour

Can keep food in the fridge and eat between loads instead of gas station burgers at the jet stop in Denmark Iowa.

    No dot

    No logging

    Drive 50 miles a day

See lots of cool stuff. I might be pouring on the runway at msp or doing crane buckets you never know.

    Make more money

    Home daily

Meet lots of cool guys/girls on the jobs

    Cons:

    Can be very dirty

I work in 100 degree heat, rain, cold and all that.

Lots of crazy driving on unstable ground, wrong way traffic or backing two miles down a tiny trail to do someone’s driveway in a mansion in the woods. Doesn’t bother me but it isn’t for everyone.

There is more than one kind of truck driving. You just gotta find one you like. I don’t get any kicks out of driving a ton of miles, which others like. To each his own, that’s the good thing there is endless jobs with a cdl, find one that fits.

Ain't that the truth. Trucking definitely seems to fit well for people who lack social tact.. Lol

Ive seen other drivers even one of my trainers call up dispatch yell and swear then hang up on them... That same guy got into an argument with a security guard, so he dropped the trailer right there at the entrance next to the guard shack and drove away. As far as I know no one said anything.

pros and cons of truck driving ???

I guess for me the cons would be all the whining and blaming that I hear every day here and on the radio and in person . Another one that is a con for me is the stupidity and laziness that is on display every time i try to get fuel or park at a truck stop .

    Now for the pros !
I have never been a single day in 37 years without a job that I didn't want to be !
I have been to 49 states and most of Canada .
I have made enough money to buy Miami and I have pissed it away so fast as a song goes .
A pro to me is the grin that comes to my face when I hear that kitty cat come to life in the morning.
That feeling seeing the sun rise over the horizon as I drop off fancy gap .
Seeing the the clouds in the valleys when I pass through the smokey mountains .
Being in Wyoming during a snow storm .
Watching the sun set in Arizona .
Coming around the corner and seeing a hundred hot air balloons rise over Albuquerque New Mexico at sunrise !!
Eating fresh fish in Gloucester Mass. that just came off the boat .
Smelling the fresh turned dirt in the spring in Iowa as the corn is being planted !

Heck I can go on and on about the great things about trucking !!!
To me one of the best things about trucking is that is still a job where you are the one that makes it great or the one that makes it hell on earth .
You can still get out earn a very good living .
The thing most over look or never learn is that you get what you earn .
Nothing is given to you in trucking everything is earned just like everything in life .

Ok that does it for today's ramblings

Pro's and Cons yeah well actually i have more pro's than cons when it came to driving on the wrong side of the road which is the right side of the road, oh what ever, my 12 month stint driving CDL in the USA was purely an adventure i enjoyed driving on those beautiful smooth freeways, the extra large truck stops i'd seen nothing like that before i went there the company i worked for in the USA was superb i'd recommend them to anyone always paid on time had great new equipment, re-embersed you for any trip expenses, paid a good rate for new drivers @ .32 c per mile never had to go out for months as a new driver i spent about 6 days all up with a driver trainer and straight out on my own no stuffing around we had great dispatchers bar 1, the only con i can think of really cause i didn't really have any issues with docks or DOT or Police the only one pet hate i had was drivers pulling in front of fuel stations and not bothering to park in a proper designated parking spot to the maximum annoyance of everyone.

The list of cons is getting longer.
The list of pros is getting shorter.
Pay and inflation are a big issue.
The rules increase every year lately so that is part of the cons.

Well my personal pros would be there are some companies you can meet really good people and retire alongside with. A con would be starting at the bottom not making a lot of money. But keeping your nose clean and off the radar, you can go far.
