Publix distribution centers

Now I am getting an idea of where it is! Don't have to stretch you memory that hard for me!

 

I wanted to get a feel on how the DC side as I used to work for them in 03-06 on the retail side. Nice people but mostly ##### kissing teens to get better hrs from mgnr's. The DC drivers I encountered were nice and wouldn't hesitate in giving me a hand when I unloaded the bread truck.

The times that I was at the one in Sarasota I never had to deal with any employees. There was a lumper "boss" on the dock. He gave me a door number, handled the paperwork, done the checking in, aasigned the lumper, collected the lumper fee, and signed the bills. Of all the grocery warehouses I've been to over the years Publix in Sarasota ws the best.

 

the one by atlanta is in dacula. i had a great experience there. nobody informed i had 3 different appointments before i went there. thought i only had 1. had to unload in the dry, fresh, and frozen warehouses. talked to the people i was hauling for. they expected me to start in dacula, than go to atlanta, back to dacula, back to atlanta, and than finish in dacula.

 

i delivered to the one in JAX,FL....not bad. but what i don't understand is why they charge lumpers fees for product that has their "logo" on it, it was 44k lbs of publix soda.........it took longer for the numbnuts at dispatch to get me the $$$ to pay for the lumper than it did to unload!!!

 

I've delivered to the Public in Dacula, Ga. and their DC's in Jacksonville and Tampa, Fl. I've never taken a full load into any of them and average maybe half a truckload when going in and get out in under 45minutes. Sometimes more and sometimes less, just depends on when they take a break.
Good people at the locations I've been to. We have a charge account with the lumper service so need to worry about getting a comcheck. Sometimes wonder if having an account with them helps in getting done quicker.

After 5 minutes you should have closed the door! Who paid the damages? Guards aren't that smart! Open a reefer door before you are ready to back into the door can get costly for someone!

 

I am glad I am not the only one that receives star treatment from Publix. I have delivered to Jacksonville, Orlando, and Lakeland and they run a top notch operation. Very quick very friendly just all around pleasant to deal with. It has been my observation that companies that operate their own fleets are complete and utter capital R rude to common carriers for some reason. Not Publix, I will deliver to them anytime anyday. It's so nice to talk this way for a change about anything trucking related. I sure do hope Publix eventually sees this so they will know how much they are appreciated by us, the common carriers delivering their products to them.

 

Actually it was a receiver that told me. I did back in to the door, and then waited for 6 hours...105 degrees that day
They had 40000lbs of liquid ice cream, and they ate the cost of everything, Apparently, there was a lack of communication between a shipper and lumpers...
