We tried pull-starting the 1996 International Eagle and while he was releasing the clutch, driver side from drive axle tires were spinning backwards as I was pulling the truck forward... Any ideas?

You may have to put truck in hi range 7th or 6th gear with flip switch on to power div. you must have a charge in batt. of 12 volts to make it start.

Just differential action at work. Nothing to worry about. Tire that spun backwards had less traction than the others. It was easier to spin the tires backwards than it was to overcome the compression of the engine.

The tires spinning backwards are a sign of road speed doesn't match the gear selected. As said you need voltage to get it to fire.

I haven't ever been a fan of it.

As stated, be sure you're in high range. If you are, the motor may be seized.

Put the tranny in the highest gear it has and then pull it.
