Get a dash cam. Sheesh!!! If you have it positioned right. It get the accident and every idiot that’s trying to cause another one.

Good, drive your freaking truck. Slowing down to take pictures causes other accidents. Could have also gotten you for distracted driving, and use of a hand held cell home while driving a commercial vehicle,

Yeah, they don't even want you to pickup your phone while stopped at a red light. Doesn't matter if f you were only skipping a song in a playlist...

I like to use a phone mount and then record a video as I'm driving by. Then go in later and grab frames for a "photo". Just reach up and bump the mount so it's pointing where you want it to. Same thing with a dash cam.

I once waved at a LEO in IN. He was setup on th shoulder with a camera looking for people with a phone in thier hand to take thier photo.... Instant regret. He got a photo of my hand up, even though it was just a wave of the hand and not me holding a phone. It took some explaining even though you couldn't even see a phone in my hand. And there wasn't!

A simple wave in agreement and I became a suspect... Don't do it, it's a trap!

Where did you do this at? If it's Ohio, you're going to get a citation in the mail. I got a citation mailed to the company after an inspection at the Girard weigh station. Some violations they'll send a citation for. I would almost bet that you're going to get CSA points and a citation. It's gonna sting

You can’t get a citation for anything unless the driver signs something or there is “photo proof” (red light camera for instance). In your case you signed an inspection form that also listed any other reasons for the stop/inspection.

Most of these stops like mentioned earlier are actually cops looking for non seatbelt use, but if they see a phone in your hand, all the better.

Sounds like a new tactic from the law enforcement community in their long battle against First Amendment rights by the people filming things in public.

Having said that though, since the brakes of your vehicle were released (vehicle in motion, driver "at the controls" as per the green book), technically you were in violation of the no holding the electronic communication device as written in the green book as well.

Sounds like the LEO did you a huge favor in just speaking with you and only writing down your plate. No CSA inspection form nor actual ticket issued.

I use a bodycamera attached to my hat for POV (point of view) videos so most of the time people don't even know they're being filmed.

The LEO will probably call your Mother and rat you out. You can expect a spanking when you get home.
