my dad told me when I was a kid . never pull into a spot just you pulled in doesn't mean you can back out of it. one morning just at day break a bull hauler tried to back out beside us an took off the pass. side mirror. boy was he mad he looked at me that's why you back in. that was over 40 years ago. I always back in.
It can be extremely inconsiderate. The trailer sticks out farther than the nose would if was backed in with the tandems to the curb. Maybe he's on your sight-side and a split-axle is on your blind side. Makes it difficult to get out.
I nose in as often as I can. It cuts down on the noise and my truck has a backup alarm. This way I don't disturb anyone at night. I would call it being considerate. But hey, that's just me.
I have nosed in a lot of times, but not when I was just there for a 10 off or short term. The way I trucked there were a lot of times I knew I would be around for the weekend, A lot ot the time I would nose in a spot in the back for two reason, one was quiet, the other was to protect my nose. lol
My trailer doesn't stick out any farther than my front bumper. Not everyone pulls a box with sliding tandems.
It's bad for all kinds of reasons. Sure, sometimes your tired. I took one once because I had one minute left on the stupid eld. What I observe is the back end of the trailer sticks out alot more than the nose would. You can only go so far in on the steer wheels rather than the tandems. Makes it bad for someone parking next to you if he has to turn sharp.
Well if you are nosed in there is less chance some amature will clip your front corner trying to reverse in. Rather be bumped on trailer bumper than front corner.
I will occasionally “nose in” when pulling into the Petro or TA with the slanted spots late at night. There’s no way I’m passing that one spot to turn around and lose it to the other truck looking for last late night spot!
well with these CSA clowns of the last 10 years I'm not afraid to nose in either..sometimes when they tried to backup is better they slam into your trailer then slam into your truck..and how many times on a nightly or daily basis do you see somebody's mirror hit, or their fender hit by some clown at least if you know. now the odds of you getting hit in your truck are lot more minimal.
When I do park in a truck stop, which isn’t often, I’ll park whatever way necessary to protect my hood from some clueless foreigner or rank amateur..
