Well there was a problem last summer with the route to Lewiston, ID considered a non truck route. For a while it was routing drivers way up thro Washington, then some other way into Lewiston. But I was told by term people and seen for myself, that dir would not come up because system was saying non approved trk rte or something. I figured since other companies may also have been using the MCP 200 or 100 mapquest system, for them because of not having the necessary permits to be on that route. It just considered it illegal for anyone to be on. And maybe the same with other routes, I don't know.

Nooooooooo never trust GPS always map out your route and use Mac 12 and 23, If u map it out in atlas and it looks right by the GPS then u can but never depend on it, it will get u in trouble I found out the hard way dead end road got stuck in mud and a preventable, but no directions where availiable for the customer so I took a chance bad choice.
I do like the new version with points of interest and customers nearby. -
New update ok I guess.
changed the green route line to blue and the driven path from blue to purple..whatever.
The POI's are ok, but have to stop to use them and Google maps is better/easier OMISSIONS.
But.. now you can't scroll the map in navigation mode!!!! Aaaagh!
I would use this soothe time. Touch to center on a spot zoom in for a better view, then
touch the little truck symbol to go back to follow mode.
GONE!
The work around: switch to preview mode and scroll. -
Personally I only use the qualcomm navigation as a last resort. The qualcomm in general is annoying to me because every time it wants to 'talk' it cuts out the music coming into the driver's side speaker. I don't like that every time I touch the screen it has to say "Home, Messaging". If in the navigation mode it will cut out the music to that speaker every time it wants to tell me a turn is coming up. So therefore I don't use it like I say unless I can't bring it up on my own GPS or there are no mac 12/23 directions included in the system or I'm kinda lost which is rare too.
I'm looking at trying to set up a home theatre system in my truck so that the music is never cut into or interrupted by the qualcomm again. Often I have a movie going (plugged into the stereo input) and if a message comes through then I have to jump up and touch the screen to get that speaker going again then rewind the movie so the full sound comes through the truck speakers. One of the things I do like about this qualcomm over the old one is that I can put the entire thing on silent (however it still will cut that driver's speaker out momentarily or often forever unless another message comes in or I touch the screen) whereas the old system would send shrill loud beeps every time a message came through, no matter if you were sleeping, it didn't care. I think the DM's still think we hear beeps on our end, as there recently was a triple exclamation point !!! red message because they couldn't get ahold of me for hours while I was logged sleeper- whodathunkit? They even called my almost ex wife lol, big mistake!

the gps on the QUALCOMM has never taken me down the wrong street. it sometimes tell u that the shipper is on the right when its actually on the left but besides that I love it. I use to take my own routes but every since they added the fuel routes into the dispatch its been kinda hard.

And I had a 3 !!! the other day, and the message light blinks fast.
But volume all the way down and a towel over the screen to keep it dark... peace.
And phone set to silent.
How about you give me your home #on mr planner and I'll call you in the middle of your sleep on a regular basis to get up and work.
Technicaly, replying to a QC message needs to be on duty, thus requiring you to restart your 10 break if you reply. Even stated so by safety.scottied67 Thanks this. -

You know thats a big debatable mess, the question of having to be on 'on duty' time when on the q/com. I asked my DM that, pointing out that eventually the DOT system is going to crack down and make that a rule for us as well. Being on line 4 when conducting any co. business on the q/comm. But his answer was that it wasn't a rule and wasn't necessary.
I don't get hassled either anymore about the mac 10's. But that got to be a bother when my DM would expect me to wake up or interrupt my 10 hr break to fill out the info and do a mac 10.scottied67 Thanks this. -

How can they considering sending a message on duty they sure don't care if I have to get up 4 hrs into my break to deliver there dumb load at some odd hour in the middle of the night, i don't even log that I log it after my break during pretrip.
I went there orientation over a year ago they said 99% where drop n hook I sure don't see them much except mostly on weekends if at all at times.
