That's good. I had no idea they had QC's that have GPS. Should make life easier and minimal lost truckers stuck under a bridge.

I think the qualcomm GPS would be adequate for the new driver. Used to be you could touch the edge of the screen to move and re-center to see over there but they seem to have cancelled that feature. But like I say, I think it is good enough for the new driver because you cannot move the map around or do much except follow turn by turn directions with it. The only time you'd have to touch it would be a situation where you missed a turn and it asks if you want to re-route.

Personally I don't care to use it because every turn it tells you before hand and cuts out the dedicated speaker which oftentimes has good tunes coming through. So I went into Settings and lowered all the volume levels to zero but any time I touch the qualcomm or the nav wants to talk, it cuts out that speaker every time.

I also have the truck specific Rand Mcnally 510 which has all kinds of cool features. Once I had a hazmat load, RM wanted to add several hundred miles to the load. I chose to run Swift's route which took me through 3 different tunnels one of which was right before a weigh station scale house which was luckily for me closed.

No ... you think you have ... not until you have to do 40 miles in 4th gear and signs are posted on curves to watch for trucks coming in the other direction using both lanes, while your using both lanes with your tandems tracking up against the side of the mountain and your steers on the fog line with no shoulder and your looking down a 40 ft drop.

Been there done that.....I have a few "never again routes".....also the "surprise" 9% curvy grade in the freezing rain on a supposedly straight road....or the road with "no services" next 100 miles....

In the future, if I have any more situations like this (and I expect there will be more), I will park and contact Safety/Compliance first, then DM second. Before I start the wheels turning on a load I want to make sure that I'll be paid the extra miles to run legally. Once that is confirmed, in writing, on QC, then I'll start turning the wheels.

Especially if you are hauling a hazmat load make sure the route QC is giving you is legal. If it isn't then you will notice that you are being paid for an illegal route. Confirm with Safety/Compliance the issues with the route, with the name of the person you talk to, then put that in writing to your DM regarding the illegal route and then have the DM confirm a new route and make sure you will be paid for the new extra miles.

yeah I havent done that road yet lol

Think the only mountain road that had me white knuckled was the 50 in spots with nice cliffs and no guardrails

my other worst moment was when I first started driving, was my 2nd load solo I believe in Oregon, qualcomm went out and I missed my turn since I had to hurry to the place and didnt pre plan it and it was around midnight. Well I hit reroute and it sent me up a residential street that came to a dead end and I had to make a right since i could not back up with cars behind me, the street was super tiny with cars parked on both sides and my truck fit between them with just a couple inches to spare on each side, I went down that whole street in idle first gear and then got myself on a larger road. I was bobtailed or I would of been royally ###### on that situation, I made sure to never do that one again, if I see it wanting me to take a residential road I just keep moving and find another route. Only thing that was going through my mind was scraping some of these cars but I got really lucky.

Go to Settings (on the second page) -> Speakers, and try turning on the internal speakers. That may solve your problem.
