Hey guys. I got some bad news. I had my first incident on May 17 in New Jersey. Not gonna go into specifics but I am facing a license suspension. Anyway, my question is can I refuse to pick up or drop a load off in a particular state or even drive through it due to not feeling experienced enough for the roads? What would my options be if I don't want to do a particular load because of the pick up or drop off locations? I'm fixing to talk to my driver manager about this and I want some advice in regards to it. Thanks.

refusing a load is like refusing to work, you can be fired..what about the next employer, and the next and the next..??
you got into this industry, now do the job, that is if you don't lose your licnese, that's a whole new set of problems in your future.TROOPER to TRUCKER and RoadRooster Thank this. -
Worry about your liscense.
As far as what you asked...you can play the safety card all you like and your company can fire you if they like.
I refused to go to Detroit and NYC and that was it, everywhere else I was down with it. But you can refuse it and they may or may not fire you or write you up etc. They may make you even go with a trainer again. But you can do anything you want, just dont be shocked if your company isnt happy about it.ymisterG, Farmerbob1, firemedic2816 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Assuming you’re worried about the NE in general. I mad many trips over the GW to the Bronx and Queens. Honestly wasnt a big deal. Houston, Atlanta, LA, Chicago the list goes on. Those cities aren’t much better. Just part of trucking.

Let's see, they have big highways, packed with lots of cars, trucks, and inconsiderate crazies...could be Dallas, Houston, Cincinnati, Toledo, Cleveland, Chicago, LA...You must have driven on some of those places without hitting anything.
Get an attorney to handle your "incident". Put it behind you.
I was driving over a big mountain, I got altitude sickness. They took me down in an ambulance...they hydrated me, and sent me on my way. I got good advice on how to avoid the sickness, but nothing cured me of my terror of mountains that I used to love to drive.
I don't like it, but I drive wherever they send me. You can choose to do it or not. You won't ever be proud of yourself if you choose not to. Your choice.misterG, Lepton1, GBL_Trucking and 3 others Thank this. -
You options are to find companies that don't opperate where you don't want to run.
Also find a company that does have Forced Dispatch.Grumppy, Farmerbob1, Western flyer and 1 other person Thank this. -
Go to Walmart and buy a pair of Big Boy Pants.... No better way to learn than to get out there and do it... Go slow and steady. This is truck driving, it's not that complicated.AModelCat, Rideandrepair, JLMooreKCMO and 5 others Thank this.

What kind of "incident" causes your license to be suspended?
