For me, at this stage of my career, it's not any more or any less difficult than any other big city. You have to be wary of the bridges and truck routes, the same thing with any city. Then the roads aren't quite as spacious as other places. The lanes are tight on the expressways so you have tk be locked in. Some places you deliver to will load/unload you off the street. Others will require you to back in very tight spaces. It takes tremendous skill to back into some of those spaces. So in summary, deliveries in tight backing spaces, traffic, using the right truck routes, thats the difficulty in NYC because all of those issues are in greater abundance than other places.Lonwolv54, tscottme, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this.

You will hear alot of stuff from alot of drivers... Dont pay any attention to it.. theres thousands of trucks going in and out of nyc every single day. Dont be scared of it. Its good expereince to take with you in the future and will give you a leg up against the guys you are competing on the job market with..Lonwolv54, tscottme, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this.

Why work for Western Express? If you're fresh out of school, I imagine you have better options. As long as you mean you just got out of actual school and not just a refresher course many companies would love you. I can say for certain that even oil field just need people with a cdl they so hard up for them they recruit in school academies sometimes and trucking companies. I imagine a fresh driver while some downsides, including a lack of experience. Honestly, I don't see a single good reason go there unless you get in hot water doing bad stuff in your trucking career. There is also road construction we had one guy get his cdl recently and has zero trucking experience I am having to train him for 90 days before he's allowed to drive solo. I mean, unless you asked Chinatown, I bet he could find you a better company then that one. Anyways just my two cents I think you should hold more value in yourself.

You'd be fine if you went to NYC. They have a truck route map to down load and that helps tremendously.TripleSix, nextgentrucker, lual and 1 other person Thank this.

Fearmongers in your ear? Don’t live in fear.
Agree. The major thing required for NYC is trip planning. If you need help with your big city trip planning, ask the members of TTR.
