This is a first for me.
The broker sent a different BOL and is asking me to provide it to the receiver instead of the original BOL that was provided at shipper.
They were adamant about not providing the original. Must print the new one and provide it only.
Why? What is this about?

Blind shipment ?
Broker or shipper does not want the receiver to know where it came from.
Somebody is afraid the reciver may try to cut them out of future loads ?Lite bug, Phoenix Heavy Haul and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
It's called a blind load, pretty common.
If it's a reputable broker and you don't suspect any other funny business then go with it.
Google blind load or search here if you want to know more. Happens all the time.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Thanks.

Yes - totally normal, I had one last week.
Shipper has 70% direct customer, they pay shipping costs.
30% is to a middle man for construction companies. Middle man pays and organizes shipping cost.
Middle man doesn’t want Shipper soliciting the construction companies. So - blind shipment. Broker supplies me BOL. Shipper has me sign that I’ve picked it up.
Reciever signs BOL - return to broker - middle man pays. Shipper doesn’t care, he’s paid for supplying product.Siinman, Avrakotos and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Unless its a load from the Armenians, then you might have an issue. But as mentioned before, its pretty common in the industry and nothing to worry about.
In my experience, the buyers dont want the purchaser to know the origin of the product.
Think of it like this. Ford needs mufflers and hires you to source them. You source the mufflers from GM and so dont want Ford to know they were purchased from the competition.Siinman and rollin coal Thank this. -
