Question for con-way and LTL drivers..

    I drive for the post office...

    Here, tractors are assigned to the route, and not the driver. I tend to think these tractors were specifically made for the post office, because I have never seen trucks like this anywhere. Each truck in the fleet is slightly different, depending on the demands of the route.

    Do you drive for a contractor who hauls for the post office or actually the USPS?

    Our carrier assigns both routes and trucks by seniority. Usually once a year everything goes up for grabs again. I am kinda annoyed that I am the low man on the totem poll. I get assigned a route that takes me over two mountain passes with a '97 Freightshaker that has no engine brakes.

    Been there done that. In 09 I was in a 95 aeromax running PA 2 lane on line-haul. No jake, no air, no real heat, and a spring ride suspension. I miss that like the stomach flu.
