yeah, and how well do u know the guy? teaming with another person you dont know that well, really isnt a good idea. Who knows what they're packin' in their bags, and if they happen to have a few grams of wacky-weed.....you know you'll both get a ticket.....you will get one just by association.

also another good reason to lease a BRAND NEW TRUCK. When you take over a lease, or re-lease a truck with miles, you had darn well better take the time and go thru EVERY INCH of that truck. looking under matresses, in the cracks, between cabinets, the whole 11 yards. Cause you get pulled over, and forget to check under the seat, and DOT happens to find a crack pipe....guess whos getting the ticket. "But its not mine"....and they'll just laugh at you.

Another little known bonus of running at night is that most scales are closed. As you drive across midnight though, make sure you have a piece of scrap paper to record your stops so that when you shut down you can transfer that information to a real logbook sheet in case you happened to be pulled into a scale. In other words preparing a new logbook sheet at your first stop after midnight a big waste of time and is not mandated by DOT-- your previous day's log is still in effect until you shutdown THEN at that time you prepare your new log if you feel like it or after you wake up in a few hours, afterall, you do still have the notes on scrap paper which is totally legal from a DOT standpoint.

Scottie....I just don't know where to start, darlin'.

Your log book needs to be current to your last change of duty status. Regardless of when that change was. *sigh* I'm about to give up on ya'. Just please do us the favor of discontinuing the misinformation, k?

Injun, I meant that post as a quote to your question regarding my teammate telling me stuff and micromanaging me when I was filling my new day's log around 2AM at my first stop one morning. I also meant it to be read tongue in cheek. Of course anyone reading that please use your common sense and all that you have been taught by your safety department when it comes to scales and logs etc.

Hey Scotty....I'm starting to think you and DickJones are playing from the same "deck of cards"....now I know where dick comes up with some of his "comments"....but some of the stuff you post are so unbelievable....I wonder if you stay up late at night and plan these things!

See what I highlighted up there????....so what is it....Do what i say not what I do?

oh puleeeeze. give me some credit, tom-tom. That last post by Mr. Scott about scrap paper and 'just in case' you're pulled into a scale.....makes me look like Einstein...or Wernher Von Braun.

    besides.....my deck is bigger. ;-)

I get red lighted all the time when I'm bobtailing. Two weeks ago, I got pulled and even sent to the scale side of the coup. Told me to go the shed and they did a Level III Inspection on me....bobtail.
