I would add does the company have an idling policy and do the trucks have APU's or bunk heaters. Not super critical but the idling policy got me once.

What's the rule about hauling for a company that doesn't request or specify your truck as dedicated to only their merchandise. Can they spring that on you after the fact? They book for up 5,000 pds. and the load is 240 pds over. Can they tell you how to run your truck? Who pays for the overage? Is this legal? Of course I know you can't damage their merchandise or your liable. I may not have the right terms but I hope I'm explaining it where you can assist.

I asked for proof from two perspective companies about the claimed pay levels and was promptly told I didn't fit the needed requirement. ( Because they couldn't prove it ) My employer has a 24/7 open door policy, dedicated freight, good home time, very good pay, excellent benefits, runs very good equipment, has almost no turnover and most importantly could PROVE everything I wanted to see proof of and didn't balk at my question list. The other things I found like in a company NO recruitment or sign on bonuses needed for people to apply and want to work there.
They took the list and wrote answers all the way down the sheet for me. There are good people and companies out there if you look hard and as I have found in unconventional ways.Stonehjl, Another Canadian driver, okiepokerplayer and 3 others Thank this. -
Question from a newbie family:
My fiance is a trucker and wants to buy his own truck. Due to some issues, he can not put a truck in his name. He wants to me to buy the truck in total and he can drive it. The company he currently works for said they will allow him to work for them with his own truck. I am unsure of how this process would work. Will he be able to drive a truck that he does not own and the company does not own?Another Canadian driver and oFlow Logistics Thank this. -
