Well now ain't that ironic.
I give my 2 weeks notice. I even type a resignation letter. I left for a different experience and didn't have issue at any company. I never had a problem.

I ended up giving one week notice as I received an offer locally and they wanted me to do my drug test friday. I'm in route to terminal to turn in tractor. Even though Prime is a mega, I will give them credit when credit is due and say they are actually an outstanding company as far as megas go and a pretty good company overall.

It kind of amazes me how people do things that they know are wrong, but will do it anyway if they think it wont hurt them.
Be a man of your word even if no one is watching.
Goes for a lot of things in life.
Any place of business that is worth working for will absolutely allow you to finish out your prior commitments.
Sure you got a new job all lined up to start. It can't hurt me now right?
What happens a few years later, after you have applied for and are one of the top 2 picks at a top of the industry "call it a 5%er" job opportunity?
I'll tell you what. If I had to choose between you or someone with the same skills / history / performance. Who should I choose?
The guy who walked off the job and left his previous employer high and dry?
Or the guy who gave a 2 weeks heads up?tinytim, Lepton1, CharlieK and 1 other person Thank this. -

Alot depends on the integrity of the company and the situation
.... Some companies will try to screw you anyway they can when they find out you are leaving them,
especially OTR operations
....i try to leave on an extremely good note, blowing lots of smoke up their butts on the way out the door
One week notice is good enough to get the brownie points
.... If I was in the OTR side I would do it on home time, the one week notice doesn't have to actually be a full week -

And" at will " is not just for employers that also goes for employeesDominick253 Thanks this. -
