It was definitely Monday today.
Got called by Safety because I supposedly had 4 hard brakes over the weekend. Turns out she had mixed up truck numbers. I did have a hard break on Saturday an I explained to her that I was traveling on OR126 in Springfield, OR and had a clear lane in front of me but a 4 wheeler passed me then decided he had to turn right. She brought up that I was going 51 mph and not on an interstate. My reply was thanks for proving I was driving carefully, the speed limit was 55mph.
Lets just leave it at it wasn't a very pleasant conversation after that for either one of us.

Goes back to an older post of mine saying that Knight doesnt really want experienced drivers but prefers those with less than 2 yrs experience (most likely the reason why they started Squire), as experienced drivers wont put up with BS like such....driving a big rig in all types of conditions 'is-what-it-is!' The unplanned for anomalies & idiots are out there and it''s just a matter of time until a drivers meets them!!Last edited: Nov 19, 2012
Dna Mach Thanks this. -
I wish I had gotten a call regarding a "hard brake" when I worked there. Would have been a lot of fun.

I must be the lucky one.My DM is the bom! Gets me where I want to go when I want to go. Pays me for every thing.

Latest news. Wife saw the doc and is being placed on disability till at least January, she's improving but her iron count is still really low(but much improved).
As for me I had to go back on my blood pressure meds, between the stress of the wife getting so sick and the stress of the job my BP got up to 160/100. Put some weight back on, too.
Miles, as usual, are up and down running solo at the big red ret@rd. -
Yeah, weight control is really hard OTR, and I never was on BP meds until OTR and in my 50's. Hygiene also suffers (how'd your wife do?), as many nights I couldnt get to a truck stop (or they were full) and spent them in strip mall parking lots or on entrance ramps (dont tell Knight!)---how supposed 'big co. drivers' claim that they take showers every night is beyond me!!
Since been off the road now for several years, BP & weight is down, and hygiene is way up. Unless a driver owns his own rig and schedules his own loads, dont see how they can lead a somewhat normal life and drive for 30+ years, make retirement, and live to their 80's?! -
they don't, average life expectancy for an OTR trucker is 61.
I do get a shower most days, I just stop in the middle of the day mid route when at an empty truck stop, if the load is occasionally a little late I really could give two chets. -
When 'pushed,' I took Wippie sponge baths and carried water, keeping my hair short (just got cowlicky anyway going in & out of the sleeper) and washed hair next to truck...
You do realize that if a 50 gal min fuel-up wasnt a min for a shower tkt/credit, Knight would have their drivers fueling up with 25 gals in CA every 4 hrs hoping they would make it to an adjacent state w/$0.01/gal cheaper fuel.. -
