R+L Carriers - anyone familiar with them?

The R&L driver who runs my area has been with em' for 15 years and he refuses to buy a pallet jack. He knows his area so well that he plans it to where if he needs anything moved around, he just has a customer do it or he uses their pallet jacks.

I have mixed thoughts about that. On the one hand, I understand drivers lose em' and beat the hell out of em. But on the other, to pay $500 to move the company's freight around is kind of a bummer.

My company bought me a brand-new Crown pallet jack plus one of those rubber pallet-jack stoppers along with a nice Magliner hand-truck with air wheels. I take care of em' like their my own but I do see guys losing them, tipping them over, and trashing them around and such. Then there's companies like YRC and FedEx Freight that have pallet jacks left over from the Eisenhower Administration. Some of those jacks are patched up worse than a set of welfare overalls!! In that case, buying one might be the better option than pushing hunks of scrap around all day.

 

You go non union, you're stuck with whatever the company tells you or else. Guess there are worse places to work than R+L though. Good luck and stay safe

 

Been @ R&L for 5 1/2 yrs. did line haul for first almost 5. P&D since March. 26/hr. M-F. 9am dedicated route. Gravy!!! Pallet jacks yes do cost employee. Like 275.00. They Take 5 bucks a week outta check. Paid weekly. Love my job!

 

wouldn't leave the yard without my pallet jack, liftgate deliveries and just being able to work around freight on the trailer makes the day alot easier. ltl nothing like it......lol

 

I left line haul for P&D & prolly 5k a year at least in wages lol for more work lol. But the 9am M-F schedule sure is a better life than nights!!!... Well worth it. I do miss just driving the open highway 4 hours at a time tho

 

The Bise seats are very nice. We notice a big difference when we have to take a loaner without one and can't wait to get our truck with Bose sear back. They are getting rid of all older team trucks. We get a new one every 2 years. Now our loaner is newer and has a Bose also.

 

Almost got on with them for a P/D in Denver. But they gave me bologna about my numerous employers over the past, ten years and told me to take a flying leap.
