I don't know if what you said was directed at me for any reason but my previous post was only meant to speculate if one makes whatever amount per year and is waiting on a raise, seems someone is either living outside their means or has done pretty high expectations. Unless Wal-Mart has mandatory yearly raises, then keeping track would make more sense.

Closing 200+ stores this year, what do you think about raises?

Hardly you Jay, another poster that clearly has too much time on his hands. Trolls come in here all the time, wisecracking, jealousy, Stoopid, misinformed, etc.
I don't care what anyone makes, but when it is crap talk, then I will run numbers. We get raises all the time, not many making the coin we make for the time spent working.
noninetofive and BackIsSore Thank this. -
Of the raises you have received while working for Wal-Mart, how many of those did you expect to get? In my opinion, when you get a raise, you are usually awarded it by the company for a job well done or after the powers that be determine you should be making more for the work you do. Or maybe if you are somewhere that's unionized...that's another topic though. Nothing wrong with making more regardless of how much you make. But there's usually a good reason behind raises other than deciding you want one.

Merit based raises would never work with a place this size, you know? Standardized schedules are ok and the norm often times. I expect an annual raise... never been disappointed.
Mom and Pop places can go with merit raises, that is the way it worked for me.
Wal Mart is great place to drive, not always perfect, but always fair. I would rather not have my job be a lifestyle. If someone embraces that, more power to them. Lots of immature posters here... not like I/we go into another company's forum to bash and belittle. That gets old, especially when mods let it slide.noninetofive and MilkyJay Thank this. -
Walmart Transportation LLC is its own company. When it is successful, the employees benefit by raises. This always happens at the end their fiscal year. Individual drivers also get raises based on longevity.
As Walmart says when you are first hired on and are going through orientation............... you know how to drive. If you didn't, you wouldn't even be here (as they always pick the most qualified with the best safety history). All they do in orientation and while mentoring is teach you the paperwork/computer work, and how things work at Walmart. It is very different than most driving jobs. You are actually treated like a valued asset, instead of a disposable number.noninetofive and MilkyJay Thank this. -
Everything you said makes sense but you are a new driver with Wal-Mart, regardless if the company is doing well or not, should you really be expecting raises? And separately, are raises at the end of the fiscal year mandatory?
-
Oh ok. See I've never worked at a place like that being young so that's why it's all I know but as you can tell, I'm learning more and more by asking. Makes more sense now with what you are saying then the closed ended comment some other worthless poster made to me. Thanks for the info!demi Thanks this.

Store closings are a part of streamlining business, if the stores are not busy, then why should they stay open? Nobody would do that.. I knew a few, good folks that worked at one, they were relcoated to other stores or given severance money. It isn't a charity.
noninetofive and drozzer69 Thank this. -
But they are also opening other stores in better locations probably to prevent stores from competing with each other. So I don't think that's a factor to driver pay/raises.
