Rand McNally ELD-50 and DC 200(s) Support Thread

Okay, so 4.8 is out.
(for those of you playing along)
So anyone running 4.8 keep an eye out for this glitch.

Otherwise, after talking to tech support, I'm going to finish my day "manually", log out after I off duty, and tomorrow, IMMEDIATELY after I certify today's logs, do a data/cache wipe.

If that doesn't fix the issue, I'll have to go to paper and call tech support.

This is a new release THIS MORNING, (so of course nobody told us) so if anyone has this or similar issues please report it immediately to RMN tech support so we/they can document the issue and hopefully fix it quicker.

Be polite, we already know they're stupid, but there's no need to abuse the poor sap they hired to answer the phone.

Funny, I'm pretty sure I was called out in the past here (if not this thread) for being militantly anti eLog.

And my company ran paper until almost the last minute, where as a lot of people on this board, (megas, O/Os, early adapters) had a few years experience before the deadline.

My company went with RMN, so that's what I'm stuck with. I'm just documenting whatever happens so that MAYBE it might help the next poor sap.

(And don't take my snark for a personal insult, if we could ALL toss these stupid things, believe me I'd be right there with you.)

But no matter how much they regulate us there's still gonna be some pill-popping, knuckle dragger, who's been awake for 47 consecutive hours with a case of Coors in his bunk and a highball in his cupholder who's gonna try to take a corner at 40 and end up upside down on top of a busload of nuns/kids and somehow,,,,,


It's going to be OUR fault.

 

If I had as many problems as you are having, I'd just run paper logs. That's what you should be doing anyway because your E-logs are not working properly.

 

If I had as many problems as I'm having I'd throw the eLog out the window and go into banking, law, medicine or any other respectable line of work!

This thread was originally a catch-all for RMN DC 200 / ELD 50 issues. I can't help it if I'm the only person still contributing.

 

So now we're up to version 4.9 and with every new release, another issue (that wasn't there before) has raised it's head.

Now I'm not getting location data. Only GPS co-ordinates.

 

Oh great I'll make sure to get one of these pos asap then
