That's great post to summarize it all. Only thing I could add is that RM put defective product on shelves and when it backfired they started looking for test dummies or should I say "beta testers" who would be willing to work as guinea pigs.
When you put out product and expect drivers to buy it and pay monthly subscription service you better make sure you have 24/7 support.

C'mon guys, you are being harsh. You know it would work perfectly fine if you were at home sitting on the couch.
mitmaks Thanks this. -
Rand has "beta testers" as any company would have. I have tested Printers for Epson for products that are not on the production line. It is normal since you need live testing.
I was asked to help expand the testing for Beta. My only function besides this forum is to manage a Beta Test Team. And no I don't sit on the sofa at home. I normally am in my office from 7am to 11pm and on weekends off/on. -
I'm sure it work great sitting at a desk (or couch) but when it's used how it is intended then it seems to fall short. I seriously have to wonder if they do any testing while in motion.mitmaks Thanks this. -

Your route takes you through St. Louis, MO or Dallas, Tx, or the new junk toll garbage they have in Louisville KY. I want to know what side my next exit is on, will it route me through or around, or maybe what the road/exit layout looks like before I get there. even small towns do some weird stuff.
That's what I really like about a GPS, is it's a city map right at my finger tips. I'm on a straight stretch of highway and can diddle with the GPS "map" to see where i'm going before I get there. But it all to often lit locks up about 3 clicks into the panning/scrolling to see where i'm at...
I'm in Denver, CO and just finished a delivery and now have -0 time to make it to my next pickup in Pueblo, CO. Dispatch says it's theoretically possible to make it to Pueblo as the crow flies and If i don't need to stop for fuel, or secure the load (flatbed)... Guess what, the on ramp I need is closed for construction. No problem right? I have a map (TND) right at my fingertips. I can just zoom out and look at the map for the highlighted roads that might be a safe bet to lead me to the next entrance to get me going in the right direction.
But around 3 "clicks" in it the TND just locks up and won't show me anything... I can't just pull over and wait for it to figure out what is going on. I'm running up into a historical district with no truck signs all over, with some "city kitty" giving me the evil eye as I do a taboo U-turn at the intersection to get straight back to the interstate and GTFO of this screwed up place that hates trucks. Where was the device I paid so much for? locked up as useless as a brick.
Coming up on a Decade now and the same irritating problem is present....
Mark, Thanks for being here, but you are going to be the whipping boy for Rand. -
Please cut/paste and put in the correct thread.

Something is broken from the beginning.
The Dock software has a hard time running as well, I've had it on multiple laptops and desktops and get the same behavior. Then I see this thread where people were talking about lockups on a different device (eld-50) and even an android app. What do they all have in common? Programming.
Is it good code or spaghetti code? Did any of those guys code for Netscape in a past life?mitmaks Thanks this.
