Anyone have any experience with the new Rand McNally Navigation 2.0? I see that the Tablet 85, Overdryve 7&8 and the new TND 550 and 750 all sport this new and improved navigation. Just wondering if it's any good.

Yes. I’ve commented before in much more detail, but the short answer is that it is garbage. The navigation is horrendous, and the device itself nowhere near where it should be. I had the 85. Fortunately I was able to return it for a full refund at Pilot. Otherwise it would have either hit the trash can, or I would have heavily discounted it to the first sucker that would take it. I would have warned that person though.

I had my 550 for a year and it sucks. The 540 & 530 had a more detailed map and actually shown the POI icons as well. The new version is crap. After a year of being able to update the unit it no longer will connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot on my iPhone, and when trying to fix it it wiped all the navigation files out rendering it totally useless. After finding a reliable wi fi area I attempted the “repair” feature and it takes forever. Searching for any repair or support articles on Google is useless, and Rand McNally tech support just as useless(I get some guy from India who is impossible to understand and barely comprehends English. I resorted back to my old 540 which still works good but won’t download saying there is not enough storage room, and like with the 550 no useful help on the net or RM. it frustrates me to no end these companies “improve” their products but just make them worse, and won’t support then either.
And yes I’ll probably hear about how everyone loves their Garmin unit or never uses gos or whatever. First of all the Garmin maps suck even worse than RM(too cartoon like), and the mount I had for my Garmin unit was ####.
As for RM, it’s sad when good reputable long time companies like RM get bought out by scumbag Wall Street vultures(investment groups) and ran straight into the toilet.

I have a 740 that’s acting up and been trying to hold off “upgrading” to a 750 for some time.

I once heard that they have since released a newer version of the software that addresses a lot of issues. Anyone hear that too?
