On the contrary, the charge light on the 720 was green the whole time it was connected to the computer. This was over several days. It was charged beforehand via 12 volt. Doesn't the green light mean that the battery is fully charged? If not, how do we tell if the battery is fully charged? And, at least in this case, the failure of the 720 to boot past the pic of the yellow truck has nothing to do with whether or not the battery is charged. It has not booted past that point since the corrupted download last December that Mark Kling could still easily fix if he had not dropped off the face of the earth. The D&R did nothing to help that, and in fact did more harm than good. Now the 720 won't even connect to the computer anymore. Too bad this thing is not heavy enough to use as a boat anchor, because its days of being used as a GPS are gone.
I just plugged the 720 into a wall outlet here in the house and within 10 minutes the green light was on. I then connected it to the computer, and the computer gave the error message "USB device not recognized". I tried it with the 720 already on (at the yellow truck pic), and I also turned it off and back on while it was still plugged into the computer. Same results. It won't boot past the yellow truck pic, nor will it connect via the dock. -
I broke the screen on my TND 730. I called Rand McNally, they opened a ticket and said they would email me the shipping directions, and a link to pay for the repair. I wait a few days, no email, I call again, they promise to send it. I called again yesterday, still no email. Is there another place that does screen repairs, or am I better off going to the competition? Getting something repaired should not be this painful, especially when I am willing to pay for the repair.

Makes me wonder if one of those cell phone repair places would be able to tackle it
-
I tried 2 of them, they said the 730's used 2 different screens, and they don't know which one it is. None of them want to tackle it, they said if I had a Tom Tom or Garmin they could probably do it.

Anybody know when another update is coming?

I hope soon. The battery in my RM 740 has swelled and split the device, still works but crashes at least once an hour and I have to be driving for half an hour before it has stored enough energy to power on. It’s a couple years old so I’m hesitant about getting another 740 given my suspicion that something new will be out soon.

Buy another GPS, their “repairs” take about a month. Don’t know about 3rd party repair places though.

That’s a classic problem. Sorry but it’s toast. If it’s less than a year old you can do a warranty replacement, it takes about a month.
