A lot of serious questions being asked in our own folder that was founded back in September of last year. The admin seemed kind of skeptical that having our own home would spark more volume of debate. Check my original request here. He did agree that it would make it easier to consolidate all the LTL related threads into one area. And hell, was he right! We are up to 109 threads with almost 2500 posts! I think it is safe to say that we hold a nicely established permanent piece of turf on this forum! Thanks to all the LTL regulars that keep this section alive and going... but more importantly, share very important knowledge and information that helps out the folks interested in getting started with LTL!
Anyway, here is my random rant:
I backed my first set of doubles into a parking spot today. It took my seven pull-ups but I managed to get my back trailer into an actual intended spot. Granted, my lead box and dolly was all jacked up, but I managed to make it work. I was kinda impressed that I managed to back my trailers close to 80 ft. Lot of concentration and going really really slow. Took me about 8 minutes but it was worth the time spent!
Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

My life - personal, professional and otherwise - was almost entirely complete when I worked LTL. It turned to complete and total #### in less than six months as soon as I crossed back over to OTR. Thats my rant...

I don't do doubles too much hassle. When I did LTL I used a 53 footer.

Man was I kucky, I'm on probation for 45 work days. (new hire). I clipped a branch an did some serious damage to a side faring. ( It was an older model) So while me ,the term mgr, and ops mgr were talking . Over comes the mechanic.. The ops mgr asked him if he can fix it. The mechanic says whats your hurry? Ops mgr says it's damaged. Mech says , yeah, it's been that way for weeks............. Talk about a game changer.

I kid you not... on my second day of work, I turned to sharp and my lead box of my rocky set pinched the front corner of my back trailer. I got a letter of reprimand with 88 days of probation left. I should have been canned. I've been on my best behaviour since though

I've had a few incidents, thankfully majority were all non preventable. But that was around NYC when I was peddling.
I do have a line haul bid. But I'm at a distribution center so I get choices. We got layovers, long runs, sub turns(two short trips), extra board, or the Montreal run. I'm on the sub turn bid, but I don't a set run everyday. My run changes everyday which is a huge plus. We got guys who do the same runs everyday. I don't know how, I would get bored.Another Canadian driver and road_runner Thank this. -
