Holy crap... P&D is kicking my #####! Most of my customers are cool as hell, but the work tempo is constant run run run. I am enjoying my first four day weekend in two and half years though. Plus having nights and weekends off is nice for a change.

Big Don and Shaggy Thank this.

P & D ain't for wimps, that is for sure. But I enjoyed it, for the most part. I didn't mind the physical work, (for the most part,) but the stress of constant push did get to me.

Some of the stuff I'd get was kind of interesting. Such as a lathe that was almost as big as the pup. And a lot of really "ugly" loads, such as trailer axle and wheel sets that should have never been put on a box at all.

Bulk metal bars for a fabricator. Gaylords of "decorative rocks" for landscaping outfits. A frame mounted marble sheets for counter top fabricators. Ah yes, lots of fun.:biggrin_25522:

My fav so far are those tiny pallets where the frame are thinner then the width of the pallet jack tines. you can only get one tine in then tailgate it. usually those pallets are reserved for loads going to flooring stores and consists of stone tiles or bags of cement.

Our dockworkers will sometimes put it on a regular sized pallet. What gets me are thise pallets of flooring that are too narrow top to bottom to fit anpallet jack in haha

Usually the vendor loads it and we dictate where it goes and hopefully don't have to move it around until it gets to the terminal. Let the dock guys adjust the forks for a unload.

The gaylords I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't care if they weighed 3000 lbs. Those are at least moveable.

Unfortunately, our dock staff is too stupid for that. I found a 4 stringer pallet on my truck the other day that was only 45 inches wide. That means the pallet jack wouldn't even completely fit just in one side.

Even better, is the pallet had the same number of boards on the bottom as on top, like a Sakrete pallet.:banghead:

We could avoid a lot of aggravation if anyone who's in any position to make decisions that affect a driver's day at all would have to spend a week on the road with one of us. Then the company wouldn't look like such a joke when they go to preach about productivity and stops per hour.

Oh wait, I forgot. They're penny smart and dollar stupid.

I've never heard it that way. Usually I say XXXXXX pays 20 dollars just to save 1 dollar.
    I'm stealing that Mack :smt066
