He's in the bay area. Don't know about you, but I don't call being cold and wet and in the fog all the time, "nice weather."

Did a residential delivery (furniture). As I lowered the pallet, she asked me if her order included the mirror she saw online.

"Errrr... Your guess is gonna be better than mine. I have no idea what you ordered on the internet".

God I hate residentials... Yesterday they wanted me to drag a gun safe up three flights of stairs. I was more than happy to tell them " no".

    That's two rants in one.

Anybody ordering a gun safe online should be required to take a common sense test before delivery. Those things are danged HEAVY!! Not the delivery guy's job to set where you want it, just to deliver it to the address listed.

    People are chuckleheads.

That was one of my biggest pet peeves driving for DHL. 500 pound piano? "Oh, we need that in our spare bedroom that's above the garage on the other side of the property"

    Me: "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!"

There isn't enough money in the world to make me do local delivery work again. I would rather be homeless if it was the last job in the world. It sucks so bad, words cannot describe.

It really does depend on the outfit you work for. I was actually pretty happy with my local LTL gig. We didn't do too much residential. We were absolutely prohibited by our company policy from going inside residences, or going up or down stairs. My biggest gripe was retail deliveries. But I seldom got too many of those. They usually went to a bobtail with a lift gate. And I didn't do much of that.

I wouldn't want to do it again either. If I had to then I'd do it. I'm happy with the new municipal life

I lucked out at my current local gig. We don't do any residential stops. It's all commercial.
