They SHOULD have painted lines. How else can you tell if you're backed in square to the building, especially if the knucklehead next to you is also crooked?

    Big Don Thanks this.

On a different note, can anyone tell me why some idiot would load 7 skids going to the same place all down one side of the trailer? :banghead:

Our guys do that too. It really sucks when there's 17000 lbs down one side of the trailer and you don't discover it until you empty half of the trailer out. Running inbound dock I understand loading stuff down the side if there is more stuff coming in the trailer for a later delivery, but our non-driver dockworkers don't understand weights and balances.

shoot, that's how our trailers usually end up. freezer up front, cooler/dry in the rear, so early stops are down one side so you can start getting freezer out the back instead of the side. I almost always have 20,000lbs running down one side. (although only if the next stop is close).

In fact my usual thurs/fri/sat route, after I get stop 7, i have to spend 15 minutes or so blocking the dock so I can balance out the trailer, since I have 120 miles to stop 8. But 5,6,7 are all within 10 miles.

I go REALLY SLOW around corners on the heavy side though.

AMEN! Stampin' Up in Kanab, UT was, (and perhaps still is,) a perfect example of that. Big beautiful yard there, all kinds of room to maneuver, but the lot is just a bit at an angle to the back of the building. That's where their loading doors were, and they had dock locks that were so sensitive they would not engage unless you were exactly square with the dock bumpers.
