35' trailers. Just long enough to not be able to swing absolutely anywhere like a 28' but also just short enough to be kinda squirly backing up. Literally the perfect length to kinda suck at everything but be kinda good too

That used to be an issue, but now when it's above 95* or below 32*(?) the idle shutoff goes away. It sometimes takes a while, but they eventually listen to us.jmz and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Under 30 or above 90 they run till the tanks are empty.Cardfan89, jmz and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

It's no secret that we run GARBAGE equipment. I've posted pictures on here before so some of you guys know what I am talking about.
We had a driver take his displeasure to another extreme. He pulled into the scale and was cleared to roll out. He instead pulled over, walked inside and told the DoT Officer "wanna see something funny? Come do a inspection on my truck". The way the driver was telling us this story was that his truck was so busted up that the officer asked for our dispatchers number. He then made a quick call identifying himself and closing with "come pick up your driver".
I have no idea if this guy was insane cause he could have gotten a major ticket or if he knew the officer. But he is not making himself popular with the company I would imagine.Gearjammin' Penguin, jmz, misterG and 9 others Thank this. -
Next week is gonna be bad lol. We just got 11 more rental 53's and have no freaking room lol. We are renting space from XPO one street over in the industrial park so we have somewhere to out them for now. I have no idea what I'm gonna do when we have to load them. I'm already parking trailers on all of the inbound docks since we don't use them at night.

Another rant....I really suck at straight backing lol. 90 no probs, blindside 90 no probs, offset no probs, parallel park no probs, straight line....nope. I am truly special and probably not in a good way lol.

I did a similar thing at a prior job early in my career. It was a problem that the company wouldn't fix and it had literally been years that I was dealing with the situation, ever since I did my road test in that truck. It had sloppy steering so bad that I was constantly sawing at the wheel to keep the truck going straight. On a straight road in perfect conditions, inside the cab I looked like I was driving through a tornado. I'm exaggerating a little, but it was pretty bad.
In my case I was already being inspected and was already gonna be given a "fix it ticket" for another issue. I said, "hey, can I show you something else?" The DOT man gladly added that excessive steering free play to the list of violations and I thanked him for it. After years of stressful driving in that truck, they finally fixed it promptly. Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.Gearjammin' Penguin, Cardfan89, FlaSwampRat and 6 others Thank this. -
What an idiot. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
He seemed pretty convinced that he upped them one or taught them a lesson. I think he was alright until he made it clear that he intentionally a DoT inspection after being cleared from the scale. He ended up screwing us on the freight that was supposed to be picked up and dropped off.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
