The agent I talked to on this load is talking “having to post up to $4/mile on van from SOCAL to Wa - on a VAN - to get calls - and hearing tears and sobbing from the shipper - and “Well, you better book this guy while we have him “ -
I’m hauling flat oversized up to WA and van rates are competing!!

"You want me to haul that load of Doritos for WHAT?"...
"Take a hike, broker" I gotta have at least a $1.40 per mile!"Big_D409 Thanks this. -
I don't know about a buck twenty on the friskees, but was in the right place at the right time on a load of salt. Actually every truck waiting to load up was jumping for joy on their 2/mile run. Kept mouth shut while thinking "suckers". Rarely willing to toss 45k in the box, for a few reasons, but over 5/mile to run it from Lansing NY to Bluefield VA kept me from complaining. About 150 miles to my next pickup(s) for our customer and had another week where the dollar signs couldn't be picked up fast enough.
Week before, ODFL hooked me up from a Utica NY to Winchester. Tricky little ones they are, requested me for a couple pallets and was just down the street from where I was unloading. Was another 5/mile run and didn't even think to ask for more. Though when it comes down, the buck eighty on friskees will be a bargain

Finally a legal weighted load, and for the peace of mind of not being overweight, I'll go 1.39

Washington you say... Hmmm... If you find yourself passing through Idaho, particularly Twin Falls area, there's a Ford CL9000 that is awaiting a trip to it's new homeblairandgretchen and Ruthless Thank this. -
They know that most truckers won’t be anything other than a trucker so they will pay the same as it always been and use the bigger companies on the stuff like jit. The little man will get all the time it needs they will assure you that. They got people who have everything tied up in equipment and most will sell pennies on the dollar. This industry has the college heads in the office that meets the weirdo who drive for them who will live in that truck for months. And when you meet him he stinks of coffee, cigarettes, no shower or anything before going in that office to meet normal folk. I’m going back to being a 100ton tug captain inland. Good luck truckers I put in my Years almost 2 decades of wasted energy in this business with nothing but gray hair to show for it.

Spikes in rates are just spikes. Obviously it's good that they are in our favor. First time in twelve years things look favorable.
Just make sure you live in a brick house. Preferably one with a basement.Big_D409 and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
I know, it's horrible. I'm up to 2 cartons a day, haven't had a shower or been home in mos. pulling my dry van around for peanuts.
I have no idea why anyone would want to remain in this industry. -
Please mommas, don't let your babies grow up to be truckers.
bzinger, diesel drinker and Big_D409 Thank this.
