There are a few food grade tanker outfits in central Florida: Oakley, Indian River and one other than I can't think of, Bynum maybe? (sorry, I'm old).

Just curious... what is it that you did that got you that citation?
No need to answer if you don't want to, but that charge can be for some pretty petty stuff.

Why don’t you just stay at Western and get on the dry van division? With your points and little experience you won’t start at 56 anywhere else anyway. Just like IR told you.

 

Port St.Lucie is the tough part, any possibility of getting up towards Jax, or out towards Pensacola? And for what it’s worth @BM 58 the guy doesn’t work for western, your opinionated posts get old.

 

Suggestion: think "outside the box".....

Pulling van/reefer trailers is boring work (just an opinion -- no offense intended)...& no one is glad to see you when you reach your destinations.

Why not pull more interesting freight, meet more interesting customers, have better/more pleasant stops....& basically...live a more interesting life as a driver?

Well, you've "paid your dues"...by putting in a full year of flatbed duty. Why not milk it (without tankers, heh)....& pull even more specialized freight?

Since you've got a year of flatbed under your belt -- you've earned the right to "graduate up"....into the world of hauling boats...& also other watercraft.

Many of your stops/deliveries would be in the southern half of Florida -- so....your Port St Lucie domicile is now actually a FAT ADVANTAGE -- instead of a trucking disadvantage.

Your deliveries would be to much nicer, higher class clientele....rather than warehouses (van/reefer)...or food facilities (food-grade tanker).

Some carriers that routinely haul boats/watercraft:

• Koch Trucking
• Maverick Transportation
• TMC

Few things would spice up a trucker resume out of the gate more than 2 years of open deck -- & pulling different types of freight.

CAUTION: While pulling boats & such...you may find that the runs/customers are so cool that you really DON'T WANT TO LEAVE (or quit)!!!

Anyway....just think about it.
