Anyone that is willing to bring unnecessary attention to themselves and/or the company they drive for by stopping and asking a DOT Officer in a scale house, questions regarding regulations---is nuts. There are other ways of researching rules/regs., such as handbook and internet.
If I was a LEO...I would not think; oh, what a good driver this guy is...wants to know the regulations. Nope! I would think; what the hell is up with this guy, driving a commercial vehicle and has no idea what the regulations are...lets give him a Level 1 right now.
Really need help here guys...

I would suggest asking the log dept but they're probably incahoots with the person telling the op how to log.
-
you asked a question and myself and others offered you the answer, yet you seem upset that the answer isn't what you wanted to hear. if your not happy with the expectations of your current company then quit. pretty darn simple.
the jab @ oilfield hours is simple, i do what i have to do and work my e-logs to my advantage to make my family money. as for the layoffs, who do you think will get cut first, the guy that runs 1 load a day or the guy that is able to legally log 3 loads a day for his company? . same with dry van/reefer/skateboard etc. who do you think will get the loads? the driver that has managed his logs so he has hours or the driver that burned all of his and has none available?
cheers my friend and the best of luck to yaCranky Yankee, blairandgretchen and Powder Joints Thank this. -
I have to ask how could he log off duty say for 2 hours for the unload/load and then back on duty for say 30 min be it to move truck out of dock or across town to TS be part of his 10 hour? If he is moving the truck he would have to be on duty driving no?
It cant even see it as 8/2 split = 10 as it has to be consecutive hours with NO on duty time between the 8/2 split right?
I also cant see it saving on the 14/11 because the clock starts after your 10 right?
I can see it saving on total hour for the week of 70/80 IIRC right?
Or am I wrong?

So - after a bad experience with ARNOLD, and last being quoted as saying you'd probably never return to trucking, and expressing desire for a desk job, here you are again - less than 3 months later- working for another stellar operation that is asking you to run illegally.
Of course, you know that. By titling a thread "REALLY NEED HELP" - you WILL get a lot of clicks - because most of us are here to help. You already know the answer to the question, you don't come across as a moron. After having it explained 6 ways , sideways and Sundays - you take offense to anyone that can fast forward through the situation, and offer you some REAL WORLD advice.
I'd change the user name to Rubber Flip Flop Wearing Newbie - put on a nice pair of fluffy pyjama pants and get some rest before getting all bent out of shape about it. -
Well alrighty then!!!!!!!!!! lol

I am with China. Log 15min ODND when you arrive then go in the bunk until you're MT. Then YOU decide if you're going to go back on duty to move the truck 20 miles or not. Me? If I have to cross a scale I will log it. Me? If I am too tired to drive I shut down it makes no difference what dispatch wants or what my log says.blairandgretchen and dog-c Thank this.
